Santa gifted me a Edge Maduro... What a rare treat. I don't remember having ever enjoyed one before. I've smoked all the various incarnations of the Vintage series,I've even smoked most of the Indian Tabak line..but somehow this precious jewel escaped me..

Medium-Full, leaning a bit. On the full side, spicy, sweet.. A good long finish.. I'll not bs you with hints of saddle leather and anise or whatever it is those jokers blither on about, but I will tell you to try one...

Up until today I would have said the CAO Brazilia is my favorite cigar without hesitating... Now I'm not so sure.

They are great cigars when they are "ON", but I find them to be rather inconsistent.

At one time the Edge was one of my everyday go to cigars. If you like full bodied cigars IMHO you cannot go wrong with this cigar, especially because of the cost per stick. On another board which shall remain nameless (SF) I got jumped on by a so called cigar aficionado because I suggested that the individual who was asking for a medium to full bodied smoke that didn't break the bank smoke the Edge. I made the comment that for the "money" IMHO the Edge was just as good a smoke as an Opus X. Boy did his nose get out of joint to even suggest such a thing. Even after I said that I felt that IMHO the Diamond Crown Maximus was just as good as the Opus when comparing the same price range. Most cigar shops that I frequent sell these things by the truckload and are constantly running out.

Mike there's two things you are not allowed to admit... 1 that there are as good or better cigars as Cubans.
2 that anything short of a Cuban is as good as Opus X.

I know its blasphemy to a cigar smoker but Opus doesn't even make my Top 5 list, AND sadly only 2 Isom's do. Matter of fact Isom's for the most part are over rated, sure they have a lot of good sticks, even some great ones, but they produce a ton of bad ones. Yes before the 'Are you sure they were isom's' questions come, I am sure..I didn't aquire them from fast Freddy in a Trenchtown back alley way.

Price doesn't come into the equation for me with tobacco.. I was smoking about $200 a month in Winston Lights... What's the occasional $20-30 stick compared to that? Sure if what satisfys me is a $3-4 stick all the better... But I don't really judge them by their prices.. If I did the Padron 2000 would be the best stick in the World.. Or maybe one of the Sancho Ponza or Indian Tabak sticks would be.. :D

Anyhoot, I won't say the Edge is the best, but I will say if they prove out to replicate the experiance I had today they just well may be for me..
And cigars are as subjective (maybe more so) as pipe tobacco so take every thing I say as worth exactly what you payed for it.

Puros, more power to you friend. Cigar appreciation is very subjective. I have bought some Rocky Patel and I am looking forward to try them. But really, I am skeptical that they can come close to the satisfaction habanos provide me.

I think for me the key factor for habanos to be really superior cigars is aroma. I really like to keep still the habanos in my mouth and just smell their wonderful and soft aroma. I really can not do that with the non habanos puros. I dont intend to sound like a snob but the closest cigars out of cuba that come close to the appreciation of the habanos aroma are precisely Opus X and Padron Anniversary.

Nevertheless, I will keep on looking and trying to find out alternatives outside Cuba for cigars.

I'll have to give the maduro version a try, haven't picked one up yet.
