Im not getting any,, but figured you all might want to know, at
JR Cigars . com

aw what the heck.

I havent tried the 1792 yet so I had to get 1, and seeins how I was placin an order, I figured I might as well get an FVF and some Best Brown.
Geez $8.95 a tin,, and I just payed $12.95 a tin for some Best Brown last week.
Crazy price differences.
Oh well !

$8.95 is still a good price but 3 months ago all the SG tins were $6.95 at JRcigars! I bought a lot the last time they had it in stock... Should have bought a lot more lol

The tinned stuff is better. This on the basis of comparing it to several pounds of bulk aged for several years in mason jars.

True that. I got what I could back then, but--will the tins be $10.95 next time?

Buy 'em out, guys, as Yak said, tinned stuff is better...smaller batches that you can tap into that'll age nicely!

Whoot! JR customer service just confirmed my back order from almost a year ago shipped out yesterday! The cellar is about to expand by 18 tins, and at the old prices!

Hunter...that's a stunner! Very cool!

I just hit for the following:

SG – Sam’s Flake (3 tins)
AC Petersen – Escudo (2 tins)
Dunhill Flake (2 tins)
C&D – Sunday Picnic (2 tins)

The prices were good, not insane...but what tipped me was the ability to get a number of things I wanted from the same vendor all at once...

AND - the shipping was $5 Priority for the whole thing. Now THAT'S a good thing!

Many thanks for the heads up!

Glad it worked out.
I can't wait--I've used JR before due to their great Rattray prices. I'm trying to broaden my horizons, having hereto stuck mostly to English blends, and to that purpose I snagged a tin of Rattray's Old Gowrie and an Escudo besides. I've heard the Escudo is a lot like Bull's Eye Flake, only better--when I was traveling last winter I picked up a little bit of Bull's Eye (Stokkebye, I'm guessing from the low price) on a lark, and ended up enjoying it more than any of the other blends I tried that trip.

The Bullseye is one of a set of two similar items: Bullseye & Luxury Twist Flake. If you liked one you'll like the other.

It sounds like you're on the right path to finding some classic and very highly regarded blends. It seems odd that Escudo is getting hard to find, but it is. Get it while you can. The fact that they have Sam Gawith blends in stock shows that other online vendors will also have it as Gawith tends to ship to them all at the same time. I just got a bunch of blends (note my post in the TAD section, re: Summer blends) that I've been looking for...many from Pipes & Cigars, who has St. James Flake Bulk in stock. I'll ALWAYS pick bulk over tins if I can as the pricing esp. above the 4 oz. weight is really good. St. James Flake is a stellar smoke, esp to those who like other VA/Per blends like Escudo, etc. It's supposed to be FVF with added Perique...really fine.
