Have all you geezers (who have had chickenpox) had yer shingles vaccine?
I was reading people's shingles stories on another forum. :affraid:
Got my shot today.

Wife said the local CVS wanted 400 bucks for the shot. Hmmm????

I started to get shingles maybe 10 years ago and figured out what was happening early enough to get to the doc for help. He gave me something to prevent a full on outbreak which worked. So I need to get a shot now?

Probably.    I will say this, if you get shingle forget all the nonsense you here online about nuerontin and get it asap.  Doesn't get you high or low, just makes the pain STOP.

Edited in: The withdraw horror stories are from long term use, how long are you going to be on it for shingles? A few weeks tops.

Had them so bad I had to go on medication daily for it...no outbreak in two years since taking the medication. Course my left *** will fall off from the medication but that is the trade off.

I have had chicken pox three times. What? I thought you could only get it once! Yeah. It's a miracle dude.

The last outbreak occurred when I was 30. It was shingle-like in that I had (and occasionally have) nerve pains.

Don't mess around with it gents.

I had it four years ago and the left side of my face still is numb. Lucky that it did not blind my left eye.

Get the shot!!!

My insurance only pays for the shot after I reach age 60. And then, only at the Doc's office or a hospital, urgent care, etc. Not on the bus at the local bank when they also do flu shorts, and not at the Walgreen's type of environment.

Got mine from the VA.
I've heard that the cheapest option is your county health organization.

Getting one cuts your risk in half, so it's not a cure-all.
