Just don't let the Highway Patrol see ya.Oddball":a0mpkcsi said:My drive to work is almost always a few hundred miles so I get a lot of time to improve my knee drivin and pipe lighting, and tamping skills. I get a good number of odd looks though.
I havent done it, but i've seen it done. Saw a guy on a Goldwing with an ash tray mounted on the handle bar and a cigerette in his mouth. The windshield blocked most of the wind. I've never heard of anyone smoking a pipe on a motorcycle.Confidence Cohen":h6ezrpg7 said:Anyone here ride a motorcycle and try to smoke?
Ya know CC, I ride with a lot of guys that smoke cigars that ride baggers with big windscreens. Maybe that and a windsreen on the pipe? One of the few times I tried the pipe while driving, I burn't a hole in my favorite hunting jacket and had to chain-up to get out of the hole I drove into while putting out the blaze. Just glad I did it up in the hills.Confidence Cohen":bt9boo7t said:seems like a windscreen might be REQUIRED without scorching your pipe.
Yup. I wrestle a 70,000 pound concrete mixer truck all day long and don't have any issues smoking while driving or even while pouring out in difficult situations. Tamp with your index finger, pipe clamped in yer teeth. A Zippo pipe lighter requires only 1 hand, again with the pipe clamped in yer teeth. If you get fresh air coming in at your feet and the passenger window cracked a couple inches you get good airflow and the pipe never gets hot because of it.puros_bran":335ksmpa said:Amateurs...
Bruce, your on the same dental plan that I'm on! I'll go toothless before I pay another $1600-$1800 dollars for a root canal and crown!Bulldog Bruce":q6gpe5uk said:I don't clench my pipes due to my dental plan consisting of a pair of pliars, but have considered cigars for longer trips.

Nice to see you post Bob!morleysson":llqj4pgi said:In the days before the Flood, when the Feds didn't care about abused workers traveling long hours and smoking, I would simply fill 5-7 pipes and lay them on the seat next to me. A lighter and some cleaners, and a thermos of coffee, and the drive from Phila to Morgantown WV was almost tolerable. The downside was that the car reeked of ERRd or PA, and it was difficult to use a knife to remove the ashes, but.... To keep the damage down on my shirts and jackets from embers, I always kept the back windows open. Now, smoking in Fed cars is unacceptable, but since I can't drive anyway, surgeries removed the muscles in the lower right leg, it's all irrelevant. But smoking and riding is still a fine sensation.
