Man! I hate to bethe bearer of bad news but that tubing is going to taste like a garden hose. It is vinyl and will be stiff and won't conform to the bit. The tubing I use and it works quite well is latex surgical tubing. Latex has no taste, is pliant like rubber and will conform to the bit. It is also safe, no PCB's in it as it is a rubber made from a plant and not manufactored. Sorry!
You are probably right, which is why I shoulda asked here first. I wondered about these points when I pulled the buy trigger but after reading the description figured it might work out ok, particularly the FDA listing and the statement that it is as flexible as rubber as well as being resistant to acid/alkali. I had found some surgical latex tubing but unfortunately it only came in the yellowish/amber stuff, no clear. I prefer the black to the amber so would just stick with the black softees that I have in the case that this clear stuff does, in fact, taste chemical. Will let you all know how it works out when it arrives (shipped today).

Latex rubber is a yellowish amber color naturally so that is the most common color it will come in. I have seen other colors but not often as hospitals and labs don't want the dies used to color it. You get used to it after awhile. Good luck!

Well, it turned out pretty good except for the fact that the thickness of the tubing I got is a tad too much. The stuff isn't quite as flexible (or soft) as the rubber softies so it's not quite as comfortable clinching it. Can't say I notice any taste to it. All-in-all it would work quite well if I could find some a wee bit thinner. I've ordered some clear 3M 1" heat shrink tubing that I'm going to try next. It's quite thin and seems to work well according to another thread about it on some other board or other, of which I've forgotten offhand. Except the poster there used black.

Well, if that one does not work, get the latex surgical tubing, it works great, i have used it for years.
