Silver Flake is one of my favorites but do jar it ASAP - my wife says the tin is perfect for storing buttons. Sure as heck isn't any good for storing baccy. Moisture level is just right, nice nutty / graham crackery VA sweetness, and the nice long strands are perfect for ball / stuff inverted pack / airgap. Not as much nicotine punch as JackKnife Plug which makes SF about right for me. An added plus for this blend is that the room note is very agreeable - could almost pass for an aromatic.
I'm with the majority here liking the Silver Flake. Can I assume that they changed the packaging? I have cellared a bunch from some years ago and it was 100 gram Silver Hinged top tins. The tobacco is wrapped in gold sealed foil pouches and it has always been fresh when opening. Personally I like Silver Flake better than MacBaren's ODF. Lately the ODF has been kicking my butt for some reason. I guess it's time for me to cut it with some Best Brown Flake to lighten it up a wee bit.
doc, if you have the gold foil packaging no need for jarring. I don't know when they changed to the crap they use now, but the cheap cellophane in the tins now is useless.
