Thank you Robert I appreciate it when someone likes my work.
Not a problem, brother Skip! It's extremely easy to compliment one's work when they are exceptionally good at what they do!! And, you, my brother are an artist when it comes to tying jigs!!!

BTW I have some plans for big bream too. I have made a good many of them to, bit a few months back I picked up some Micro Mink Zonkers and believe I can make one killer jig for bream with them.
Though I don't have easy access to any good crappie waters, you already had my attention. But, with my favorite bream pond in mind and having read this, you now have my full, undivided attention, sir!!! Surely you would not tell me about such without sharing a pic or two of the "Bream Slayer." A Texan couldn't be that cruel... even to a Tennessean!! Remember the Alamo?? My great uncle Davy Crockett (can prove relationship) died there... fighting for Texas' independence! Surely knowledge of this would have a positive influence on you as you decide what level of mercy to show me!!!

If you are definitely going to tie them, I don't care what my wife says... I will get a few of them from you and give them a try!!!

Only problem is a pack only has 2' of zonkers/strips in them.
Please forgive me. But, my lack of knowledge about tying jigs and such causes me to be unable to understand why this is a problem. Does it increase your out of pocket expense for making those particular jigs?

As for my Glow Jigs and the way I make them is unlike anyone else I know because it took me about 3 months of research and phone calling companies to see what I could get away with mixing this stuff up. The glow for the green one they say will last 12 hours, but I will say that if I have some hanging in my tying room and cut off the light at night and come back later they are very visible way longer than one hour. Most of the fish I have caught on them (I don't use them a lot, don't know why) were down 10' or more and the biggest one yet was 17" and was fishing down about 12' over brush. Actually I had put my rod in the rod holder as the guy with me wanted to know how to tie the knot I was using. Anyway just got to him and started to show and hear my rod making noise and looked back and it was bend to heck. Grabbed it and hauled in that 17" crappie.

Early this year I got whit the Mfg. where I buy my chenille and got them to do something they don't offer. I got them to take the crystal chenille they make in the largest size they make and add more material to the cotton string so I could make the body nice and full. They later told me that I am the only person they do that for, so Shhhh don't say anything, LOL! If on my new stuff page at the bottom right side is where this stuff is.
You've absolutely no cause for concern... your secret's safe with me!!! ;)

I love the way those jigs look. And, I'd bet that all that shimmering in the water drives the fish mad!!! I am especially drawn to the ones that have the gold body and chart. tail. And, the gold/silver "streamer" in the tail just sets it off!!!

Just out of curiosity, have you ever held some of your jigs up to the computer screen to see how accurate the pictures display the jig components' colors? Just curious.

Please do keep me abreast of the "Bream Slayer!" As I've already said, you've now got my full, undivided attention!!! :D

Later,
Robert

As soon as I get some of them done I will show you to see if you like them, not a problem. Davy was my childhood hero for sure, well him and Micky Mantle.

Problem with the mink is you don't get enough per package to suit me. I like buying bulk when I can or wholesale and a Zonker is a cut strip of the hide and fur. The thing I have planned for them is tying them in near the hook bend and wrap them around the shank to the head making a fuzzy looking thing and I know this style works well like that. Some rabbit and bigger jigs I may tie on a zonker and let it hang off the back and then a crosscut strip (meaning the hide is cut across the body and the fur comes off the hide to one side making it great for tying in where the zonker was) then wrapping it to the head and it looks like a hair skirt with a tail then. You can see some like that on my new stuff page too. I have some with zonker tail and crosscut body as well I have some that are just crosscut with not tail.

I will try to do some this weekend.

Skip, I always stand in awe of those who can take raw materials (pen, pencil, paint, paper, clay, stone, wood, glass, fly and jig tying supplies, and such) and use their imagination to turn them into useful works of art! You, sir, fit in that category!!

I look forward to seeing pictures of your creation with great anticipation!!! ;)

Robert
