Song Remakes?

Much of the time I don't care for remakes, especially if they are trying to make a carbon copy of the original song. The bands that change it up a bit, add their own style to it sometimes get my attention. My music taste tends to vary quite a bit, blues, rock, metal, country[older stuff], and a bunch of others. Heard this song today, am familiar with the original, and with the work of the band remaking it. Not everyone will agree..but I was quite impressed with it. Anyone else got a remake that has really taken them by surprise with how a band has put new life into something? irate:

Yeah I love the Disturbed cover. They like doing covers and do a good job. Remember they did Land of Confusion as well.

I will give a listen to all of these, Checkin out the Miles Davis, time after time now. All instrumental is a good way to go for some songs. For instrumental work Gary Hoey does an amazing job with Christmas carols.

Yeah I love the Disturbed cover.  They like doing covers and do a good job.  Remember they did Land of Confusion as well.

Land of confusion definitely was a good one. I tend to like their version better than the original Phil Collins one. :twisted:

Richard Burley, I may not have the cultural background to appreciate the quality of the cover done here. As musical piece it is well done. For classical instrumental pieces, The 2 Cellos did a cover of Iron Maiden's The trooper, not to be missed!!

That was great! Very moving. Tocatta and Fugue in D minor has always been one of my favorite pieces.

I've a vinyl rendition of this by E. Power Biggs and listen it to it regularly. Never heard it scored for full orchestra until now. Thanks for sharing Richard.

I remember some years ago, Metallica put out an album full of covers. "Whisky in the jar" and "turn the page" stood out well amongst them. Also the keystone companions albums from Jerry Garcia and Merl Saunders are not to be missed if you like funk, blues and such.

I'm a big fan of Jerry, and he made a massive body of work in covers. Another album he worked on with David Grisman called shady grove is one of my favorites. All geared toward an "old timey" sound. Awesome collection of old songs, played with a wide variety of instruments.

I was never a Nirvana fan in general of of this song, but I love Charles Bradley's super funky interpretation of this one.

It is always intriguing for me to see the new perspective on something I have been accustomed to hearing one way for so long. As before, I tend to lean towards those putting their own unique style into a piece rather than a direct copy attempt. Glad to see so many putting up a variety of songs from Bach to Bowie. There are a lot on here I was not familiar with.
