A while ago there was a thread about Obsidian Pipe Oil there was also one about Brebbia polish. Have just received both in the mail (along with some tobacco) after experimenting with it this evening I have to say they make a good combo.

Used some fine grit sandpaper, then a little elbow grease with a magic eraser, then the Obsidian oil (following his instructions) then the Brebbia polish. nice results.

Also, the magic eraser works really well on acrylic stems.

Thanks for the info. I have a few pipes that could use a good cleaning and I am ready to experiment with some diffrent options.

The Magic Eraser is my favorite method for cleaning oxidation off vulcanite stems. Amazing stuff!

I've soaked some old oxidized stems in Oxyclean for an hour, then scrub them with a Magic Eraser and they look great. I got some Brebbia Stem Polish coming this week so that will put the final touches on them.

I have always used olive oil but got a bottle of the Obsidian oil free with a pipe purchase so I tried it and have to admit it is good stuff. For the price and the little bit you use I think I am a convert.

Me too. I'm really liking the Obsidian oil.

It works much better than the Brebbia polish IMHO although I haven't used them in combination

Using both in Combination works VERY WELL. I use both and they keep my older vulcanite bits much blacker and I only get them polished on a wheel much less now :p I think alot of the discoloring is due to the type of tobacco's smoked. My freinds who are Aro smokers only seem to have less discoloring than I do and I smoke predominatly Balkan and straight Va 'bac. JMHO :p
