Well folks, another week of sub zero temps lie ahead. I'll never get those rabbits dressed at this rate.................

So, to keep things toasty, I figured, why not do some Virginia stoving?

I've got stuff ready, now to wait until morning and mind the oven.....

We'll see..........

the wife will be gone the next several days. So I'm going to be baking some escudo over the weekend. We'll have to compare notes.

Don't forget the ketchup,,, :lol!:
And remember, add it AFTER you take the 'baccy out of the oven !!

I'm thinking a nice tarragon reduction in a 1988 Maryhill Cabernet topping.

OK........

Got the Leaf nice and black. Maybe close to crunchy. So, A couple of spritzes of distilled water and a good tossing got it closer to case, but I like it pretty dry for storage and blending. I rarely smoke it straight unless testing for quality. This batch didn't end up as caramel smooth tasting as the last one, but I used a sweet bright leaf VA from Canada. Still getting a citrus linger on the exhale. No matter, I will use it.

Put together an "oriental blend" using some of that with Izmir and Yenidji, equal parts, and some of the Carolina flake I use in my VaPer blend. Heated, rolled and pressed with one atmosphere of pressure... We shall see in a month...

What kind of Va (cased at all?), and what was the time/temp?

No casing, no water, spread out the precut ribbon in a pyrex pan, popped it in the oven at 220 for a while, (hours?). Basically kept an eye on it until it turned from yellow to black and crunchy... Some days it takes longer than others.
