I had reviewed the recommended thread/s prior to this post. Given a bit more specific question, I figured the post would not hurt. I have received quite a good bit of suggestions, some of which are not listed, as well as the reasoning behind the suggestion.

Search and Sticky's are there for a reason, and I understand this. A lot of times personal experience/reasoning are not included, or as in other forums I frequent the search is too all encompassing even when narrowed down.

I certainly appreciate the time taken to review and respond to my query. I really cannot wait to give all these tobaccos a try. On the other hand, I'm sure my wallet will not like it. I just 'have' to pick up another pipe or two as well as some more storage...

Something that's not quite in the "fashion" of today's smokers is the concept of time with a blend. For me, I've found that it takes at least one, sometimes two tins worth of a 'bac to really GET what it is and if it fits with ME. This allows me to smoke it in ALL sorts of conditions from in/outside, in cold/heat, and in a wide variety of types and sizes of pipes I own. You don't get to experience ALL the 'IN" blends all the bro's are talking about, but YOU WILL LEARN about a blend/type of 'bac and how to smoke it this way. Pick a few, buy some tins and settle in to 'learn" these and THEN move on to others. It's a slow way but you WILL gain more knowledge about tobacco and pipes this way and this can only lead to MORE enjoyment, besides, this is something you plan on doing the rest of your life right? SO WHAT'S the HURRY

Thanks. I do agree with you; what I'm currently attempting to find is a particular 'style' that is more suited to my tastes. These recommendations help point me in that direction.

I particularly like this advice, and will attempt to adhere to it as best I can. But again, I am in search of something that I enjoy that will get me to this point.

For example I had no idea what Lakelands were, though I had read about it I did not associate the 'soapy' taste of one of my estates to it. I tried some Kendal Flake over the weekend, and bam, I knew what happened to that pipe.

Though I enjoyed the Kendal, I obviously need to dedicate a pipe to it. I thoroughly dislike the ghosting left behind, which will be the topic of another thread in a different section - I have been unable to clean that out (of the estate) even after multiple salt and everclear treatments. More research is needed into cleaning techniques.  :study:

I do understand the need to take my time and give each type of tobacco its due diligence. I also have no problem dropping a little here and there to expand my horizons...I like to smoke on my commute home which lasts an hour, so I do have the opportunity to focus on one particular style at a time each week or more if need be.

Please do not take my exuberance as spontaneous TAD. I will research and weigh opinions...but I do like having a variety for different moods as they strike me....so there is a bit of TAD there (but that's ok, right?)!

I appreciate all the advice you all have been giving, and I do take it to heart. There is a great wealth of knowledge and experience here which is why I joined.
