Until recently, I traveled a lot for work. Last year I spent an average of 2 nights/week in motels. Thankfully, that's coming to an end. During that time, though, I tried a few different systems for carrying pipes and smoking supplies. I thought I'd share the improvised pipe case I settled on, so here it is:
That's a Maxpedition EDC Fatty organizer, found here:

Do a quick YouTube search for "maxpedition edc", and you'll find everyone from IT geeks to zombie hunting survivalists showing off this same pouch packed with all sorts of useful things. I've yet to see one loaded up like this, though:
These are amazingly tough little pouches, and when packed to the gills like mine is, they hold an insane amount of stuff, such as:
3 or 4 pipes. I had 6 Washington cobs in there once, but that was just silly.
2 or 3 ounces of baggied tobacco
Zippo lighter plus a butane back-up
Czech tool plus a spare pipe nail
That DeKrallinger snuff box had been modified to be a match dispenser. There's a striker glued to the back, and it has the added benefit giving a little whiff of Prins Regent with every strike.
Small flashlight for inspecting bowls in dim light
2 small pocket knives, one with its own tiny light
Folding pipe rest
Spare reading pipe-packing glasses in an old velour pipe sock
Snuff box that actually has snuff in it
Handkerchief (for wiping down pipes; the snuff hanky stays out of the pipe case)
Wind cap
Chapstick
Breath mints
100 or so pipe cleaners
and an empty Vanilla Flake tin that I use either as a tobacco drying tray or occasional ashtray
The specific load changes all the time, but you get the idea. As I said, this is a very durable little pouch. The 1000 denier nylon is triple poly-coated. If submerged, of course, the zipper will leak, but otherwise it'll keep everything nice and dry. One other nice thing about it: it complies with rule #27 of Man Law.
RULE #27: If you absolutely must carry a purse, chose one that looks like it might have grenades in it.
No one will mistake this for Seinfeld's European carry-all!
Just thought you guys might like to see that.
