Very nicely made George.

I love maxpedition, I have one of their backpacks for hikes / weekends away.
May I ask which model? I've nearly got myself convinced that I have a need for a medium-ish backpack. I've been eyeing the Falcon-II.

It's been years since I bought it, but I think its called a monsoon gearslinger? Its not the biggest bag they make, but its modular, very comfortable, versatile and well constructed. I tried to take some shots to show how many compartments, pockets, zips and attachments you can add, but I kind of failed. Basically everywhere that there can be an extra built in area, they put one in. I've taken it up several mountains, across Europe and to a lot of conventions and I've always been very happy with it. After I bought it, a friend of mine went nuts at me because he had been looking for one for years but didn't know what they were called, apparently its the bag Jack Bauer used in 24, I didn't know, never watched it, but the jealousy was a nice added bonus.

If the BOB ever gets there name on one of those MM Bulldogs I'm in, BOB series would be an added bonus.
Tried to order the fatty bag & they want as much for shipping to Canada as what the bag is worth, have to see if i can find one on this side of the line.

PS Nice match box/striker Magyver.

I definitely am thankful you bombed me with one brother. With how much I travel this will be awesome. I also really dig the de kralingse match case, now if only tsa wasn't idiotic and would let me bring my matches everything would be utterly stellar.

I don't know what you mean, Kaiser. All bombs are anonymous. ;)

Yeah, their lack of a budget shipping option is the company's weak point. Check your PM box, Hawker.

That, my friend, looks like you can have everything in one place, whenever you may need it. I will look into getting one for myself.

Thanks!

Thanks, Isaiah. That's the idea. Travel can be disorienting. It's nice to know I can grab just ONE bag and know I won't have to go looking for where I left my lighter/glasses/tamper/whatever.
welcome to the forum, by the way.

Ah, yes. That's one of those single-strap bags, isn't it? How do you like it for longer distances. I used to carry a bike messenger's bag, but if I had to walk with it for more than an hour, the imbalance on my shoulders would start to make my neck and upper back hurt.

I've had that with other bags only using the one strap, but for some reason I don't get the problem with this one. It might be because its got a lot of padding and sits well against the back, so it might be getting support from there, I'm not sure.

It might also have something to do with the fact that yours is designed for walking, rather than riding, which never gave me a problem. Damn fine bag you've got there at any rate, Jack Bauer's or not. :D

GK, I'm seriously impressed by your readiness!
Just looking at that case makes me want to go out and do something.
This, despite my general aversion to doing anything!

As long as we're on the topic of re-purposed tactical gear for pipe smokers, here's another great company that some of you guys might know. 5.11 Tactical does with clothing what Maxpedition does with bags. I found six of these shirts, brand new, tags still on 'em, at Goodwill for $1.49 apiece. (Half-off sale!) For a guy like me in that odd corner of the workforce where a shirt and tie are worn with a hard hat and steel-toed boots, they make the perfect work shirt. They have the added benefit of these extra large pockets. Intended to conceal a handgun, they perfectly cradle a pipe under each arm.

The regular breast pockets have plenty of room for a lighter, tamper, and tobacco. As an added bonus, this pen pocket on the sleeve is just right for a few pipe cleaners.

Why do I feel like there should be A-Team music playing every time you leave the house?

Edit: Looked it up while going over your pictures and yes, it works. It so works.

 Just wait'll I show you how to make a bowl reamer out of the bolt carrier from an M-60 machine gun!

I'm waiting for my associate Bill Shalosky to make a pipe with a wooden picatinny rail/peg system on the top of the shank on which you could mount a wooden match box or tampers or something.

Another cool thing would be to have a compact leather pipe bag/tobacco pouch with a rail mount to put on the side of an AR-15 barrel. Would also double as a bench rest.

Ahhh TACTICAL pipe smoking! Glad I'm of the generation I am! Think I'll continue on my old fart way and just KISS it!

You're in luck, Monbla! They make one for you! :p

OVERKILL. I only take, at most, two pipe s with me, a roll-up pouch with 'bac and some clnrs., pipe nail and lighter ALL of which fit in my pockets. THAT'S how you KISS it

You'll have to show some pictures when that's finished. :p

That's a sweet setup. I may have to get one as well. I have a lot of surplus military packs and bags but haven't seen one that can hold pipes like this one.
