Just got a 4 oz. order in of some GH&Co. Louisiana Perique Flake and the tin (for the lack of a better word cause it came in bulk) note was that of "Molto Dolce". At first I though they may had stored in a container that once held it but, after a little research found that's the way it smells from the Tonquin that's in it. Well, I think I found a new friend, really like the stuff. I could smoke this all day, sweet and smooth. ;)

It's fantastic. You should definitely smoke it. You'll love it. Unless you don't. Then you'll hate it like poison probably. Good luck.

That's interesting Ron, including and especially since you say you've found a new friend in it. I've come to avoid G&H as they have the dreaded Lakeland character I dislike so much. So there wasn't any of it present in this?

I remember trying 1792 many years ago, and don't remember it being off-putting. Just a bit odd in a tolerable way due to the Tonquin. This Louisiana Perique flake sounds like it doesn't contain much of it.

Cheers,

RR

<edit to add, this is not a mooch attempt.>

Oh I can't tolerate Lakelands my friend (sorry Adam) and this has none what so ever that I can tell. I know grandma's perfume all to well so, if'en there were some I'd know it.
Reviews states it has Tonquin Bean & Whisky for flavoring and the blend type is Virginia/Perique, no Lakelands stated there in.

EDIT!

I need to take all that back, someone at Smokingpipes cross labeled the bags of tobacco.
So when I thought I was smoking GH&Co. Louisiana Perique Flake I was really smoking McClelland Fragrant Matured Flake and vise versa. Louisiana Flake certainly does taste like Lakelands, light but, it's there my friend. Thankfully I only had to take two draws to find it out and hopefully haven't ghosted my pipe. I know a certain someone that's getting 4 oz's. of Louisiana Flake sometime soon this year (Adam). ;)

That's helpful Ron. Very helpful in fact, knowing your aversion to the "L" factor!

See! Ketchup IS GOOD !! FM 2000 is my daily go to Red Va for years now !! The more you smoke of it the more you'll like it !!

Thankfully we dodged the bullet and didn't ghost my pipe. I immediately dumped it, wiped the bowl out real good and took a pipe cleaner to it, then loaded up some FM 2000 and had a happy ending.

Ron, are you just trying to make my point for me?

I enjoy most Lakelands. Louisiana Flake however, was one I didn't care for.

FM 2000, is a very nice flake. Great flavor, good room note.

Yeah, I would be a travisty to have the those two mixed up. :p

No, I think Smokingpipes is just having a funny Ha Ha on me. ;)

That is funny. Several years ago I ordered some Kendal flake from one of the online big boys and loved it and couldn't recreate the magic until years later when Grasmere flake starting getting imported and I realized that's what I had received by some accident before it was being distributed here. It wasn't even in the retailers inventory that first time so I suspect it was mislabeled from the manufacturer instead of a label switch from the retailer. I was confused by this for years.
