Jason Matthews. A friend of mine who has served on The Presidential Foreign Intelligence Advisory Board since taking Brent Scrowcoft's place on it under W, advises me that Matthews' novels as to tactics and strategy are "100% accurate....to the dismay of those in the biz." Plots may be embellished, but portrayals of the spy craft issues presented are "dead on." His spy novels begin with the "Red Sparrow" trilogy. I'm in the 1st one and it is fantastic and current as to the Russian Federation and the CIA to my knowledge.

Over on the Big A…I checked out Book One of Red Sparrow. Experience and accuracy are important but a solid story and excellent writing even moreso. I was able to preview the early chapters and by golly Matthews can write…extremely well. Of course, on the chapters dealing with the heroine I was visualizing Jennefer Lawrence (or however it’s spelled). I didn’t connect the books and the movie til I saw it on a search page there.

Obviously excellent recommendation. Thanks.

You're most welcome. Glad the book struck a positive chord with you.

Ps. That Presidential Foreign Intelligence Board is now known as The Presidential Intelligence Advisory Board.

Just finished Red Sparrow. It is a very, very good read. I’m not doing a review but I paid for the first one and now I’m going to buy #’s two and three. I don’t typically read spy novels but these are fine recommendations. Again, thanks.

Mmmmmm…well I can’t do EVERYTHING for you!

Anyway, I feel for you. I do pretty much everything on my iPad Pro and would be pretty much slumped in a corner, whining and sniveling without it.

And onward into Book Two of the trilogy…”Palace of Treason”. It looks like it’s been published more than once for sure.

So glad you're enjoying them.
