A little earlier than last years thread. I have sent a check for the Pipe Making seminar. Made reservations. They have blocks of rooms saved for the show with a special room rate. Check last years thread links for more info. It's not too early to be making plans for the big show. Any questions, please ask. If someone here does not know the answer, I have contacts in the CPCC that probably can answer them. I also know that there is more than this one thread to past shows around here. Some with lots of pictures.

Be sure to pack clothing for changeable weather. I think it was near 80F the first day and headed downhill from that. Forgive me if I am wrong, as I am bad with names, but I think Doc Watson and I shared a smoke on Sunday morning and had the tent to ourselves pretty much. You could see your breath. The prior year I ran around in shorts most of the time.

Dates, May 2nd & 3rd for the Pipe Making Seminar. Filling up fast according to Brian. See his thread for more info if you are interested.

Friday Pre-Show offers some great deals. Don't forget the welcome buffett that evening as it has been excellent every time I have been there.

Saturday and Sunday May 5th & 6th are the main show dates. Plenty of activities. Do not forget the Silent Auction, as that really helps to pay the bills for the show.

Good post, Carlos. Yes, last year's weather was incredible. Sweltering one day and freezing the next. I don't ever recall weather in Chicago so extreme.
I make my reservations a year in advance and am looking forward to joining you at yet another great venue full of magnificent pipes and delectable tobaccos.

Here is something new for Saturday afternoon at Pheasant Run. It's in one of the large conference rooms. So if you like beer........... :sunny: (Thanks Allan! Saw this on your Facebook page.)

Brews & Blues is coming to the Pheasant Run!

This is THE St. Charles beer tasting event you won't want to miss! Offering unlimited sampling from over 25 micro-craft breweries, food sampling, concessions and live music.

Mark your calendar for Saturday, May 5, from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Pheasant Run Resort in St. Charles, IL.

Open to the public, admission is $40 and includes unlimited tastings of beer from over two dozen microcraft breweries. That means over 120 different beers to sample and taste. Guests can also sample foods that pair well with beer and enjoy live blues music!

No one under age 21 will be admitted to the festival; proper identification will be required for all guests.

So you can get in on the pipe and tobacco deals all morning. Go sample beers and Blues all afternoon. Then make it to the tent for the Throwdown. And never leave the Resort. :sunny: Don't forget the Silent Auction! These will be close, so you can run back and forth. Hopefully they will stamp your hand or give you something to get back into the beer and Blues.

Man that sounds great. Bear and pipes? What else do you need realy? :D

Been well, thanks for asking bud. How bout yerself?

Still wrestling with some medical issues (aside from the occasional bear/beer related injuries...lol) and been running back and forth to various doctors and getting all kinds of needles stuck in me and scans done on me. Plus work is stupid busy and it's getting nicer out so I haven't spent a whole lot of free time in front of the computer.

Feel pretty good now though and looking forward to a spring/summer of lazy days on the back porch in the sun with a "Frosty" beverage and a pipe. Would love to make it to this show but I don't think it's in the cards this year. I'll just have to content myself with a local brew and raiding my own cellar

Rate change for the good on the CPCC Show rooms. Be sure to mention the show to get the special rates and count towards filling the block of rooms. It helps to keep the show coming back. See this thread for more info.

The pipe seminar is just over a month away. Some day I might just learn something and have it stick in my dense skull. I am bringing extra sand paper. Some odds and ends tools. Xacto knife, files, some measuring tools. Don't be afraid to bring some extra stuff you are comfortable using. I will try to remember some pencils. We always seem to be short on those. Brian has a bunch of bench belt/disk sanders, bandsaw, buffers. They have a sand blaster. Alex brings a lath, I think. But you can never have enough sand paper. Glasses. I would like to get a face shield. But I don't know if I want to spend the money. Sometimes it can be hot in there and sometimes cold. Bring clothing you can change, to be comfortable, that can get dirty. Dust masks if you need them. They do run vacuums on the sanders, but sometimes it can get dusty. I may bring some headphones for me. But they can be hot when it's warm in there.

Some drinks and ice has been provided the past couple years I have been there. The Pheasant Run folks have always been great. Usually a request to the right person gets our needs taken care of. I will always try to help, but don't mistake me for someone who knows what he's doing. I am just a student. Rex will probably be around to have us sign paperwork first thing and give us a run down of who the instructors are. The work room has been at the other side of the Mega Center from the smoking tent. A door from our work room actually opens into the display room where the show takes place. So we are inside the same building as the show, but on the west side.

If you want to catch me or get lost, PM me here and I will give you my cell # so you can call or text to meet up. I have always gotten good service from AT&T in the buildings. Some of the other cell providers can be iffy.

Food can be found for lunch just a short walk away. They have a short order place called Terrace Cafe that has always been excellent. I can even control my carb intake. I never leave the resort once I get there. Never found a need to. Being from downstate I hate the traffic. At a certain point, some food can be found in the smoking tent.

You guys that have been there before know all this stuff.

would have been really cool if this was around the fourth of July as I'd love to get there and Ill actually be in the chicago area that week. Oh well, Ill make it one year

I wish I could go, I hope to attend this show in the near future and meet some of you guys.

2 weeks from today at this time in the evening I expect to be kicking back in the smoking tent and sharing a bowl. Going to be here quick! :sunny:

PLEASE post lots of pictures! I have a family vacation already scheduled in that window, but I'd LOVE to go!

Doody.

Oooh I can't wait! :D

Hey fellas, I'm totally going to be there this year. I'll have a table and be selling estate pipes. Can't wait to meet you guys and see what all the hype has been about.

Although, I've got to say, the St. Louis show this year will be tough to beat. Constant crowd for over 8 hours and over 500 in attendance. Maybe the sheer scale of Chicago will take it up a notch.

Watch for me. I will be trying to get things in focus looking over and sometimes though my glasses. I don't always look and see who it is that is sitting there. Well, I do look. But I might not have you in focus. So if I don't say "Hey!" right away, that 's why.
