Sweet truck by the way, had an 86 C10 long bed I sold to may dad. Couldn't afford the gas, hate not being able to afford gas .
That's what retirement for. When your young you suppose to work your rear off so you can have plenty of time in retirement to watch others work too hard. If truth be known, I wish I had worked alot harder when I could, then I could pay someone else to watch you guys work too hard.d4klutz":cmab7k6t said:Thanks, I have a car that I use for fuel efficiency, this is going to be my weekend cruiser, unless I can tweak it to get at least 18 mpg.
Keeping in the spirit of the thread: I'm tired of being tired. Non-stop work and running has me exhausted. I haven't had time to study for my Facility Managers Certification tests. I wish I had a few more hours a day to do things that I need and want to do.
What's "retirement"? I've just turned 70, as you know, and I'm still working. Somewhere along the line there must be one big mistake, either on your side or mine??Cartaphilus":vtwmpuur said:That's what retirement for. Pete, your pain doesn't go unnoticed, I know how you must feel. I haven't one speck of patience when it comes to waiting on a purchase to get here, specially a pipe and specially if our lazy good for nothing nose picking slack jawed government employees want to make us work harder at doing their job that they get over paid for.SpeedyPete":bq8iffu4 said:I wish I could walk in at the custom's office and kill all the useless ******** sitting there, wasting time and money.
I've bought a pipe off eBay and it's sitting at customs since middle of June. They want proof of payment and an invoice.
So I printed the documents they wanted but.....they want the ORIGINALS! So I offered to go there (35km drive) and open up my eBay account for them to see on my tablet. Not good enough because they can't print from it.
Next I asked them if I may come there and open up my account on their computor to see. No, they can't allow the public to use their computors.
I told them that no stuff gets shipped until it's paid for. They say they KNOW that! But they must have proof that I've paid for my item.
I've asked them to open up the package and compare the pipe in there with the photograph which I took off eBay WITH the price I paid for it also printed next to it. No, they want proof of how much I paid for the bloody thing to calculate the tax. They've got EVERYTHING they've asked for but still some damn fool down the line don't want to release my package.
And worst of all; it's a US$12.50 pipe I'm waiting for. If it's was anything else than an Old England with army mount stem, I would have said KEEP THE EFFEN THING !!!
My name is Pieter and I'm a suffering pipesmoker. Thanks for listening to me.
Truth be known, I was forced into retirement. One day I said work and my spine said no, guess who won that argument?SpeedyPete":1w1dep5t said:What's "retirement"? What is it they say, "there's only two things guaranteed in life, death and taxes?"SpeedyPete":6otksvrl said:I would LOVE to retire but I'm in a business of my own. My daughter will eventually take over but with our new laws, she must still write a lot of exams WHICH HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH OUR JOB!! Government stuff, again!!
Ha! My sweetheart is an INTJ. I'm an ENFP. Life can be interesting sometimes. Being a sapiophile, I was first attracted to his intelligence. It's weird and hard at times, but we seem to balance one another out.BriarFox":9xju19yj said:LOL, you can take them online, it is a fun test to find out more about yourself.Cartaphilus":9xju19yj said:No but, I've had my share of Jack Daniels!BriarFox":9xju19yj said:That is correct and because of that I have views-which can turn into complaints, that in our own INTJ ways are unique. You come across as possibly being an INTJ Cartaphilus, have you ever taken the Myers Briggs?
INTJ's value intelligence, knowledge, competence and have high standards in these regards. We also have those expectations of others. Just imagine what I probably complain about (mostly to myself).
Being in Walmart is like a prison sentence to me. :affraid:
Well at least that's some good news there!SpeedyPete":0no2ct03 said:I received an email today from customs; I may go and collect my pipe tomorrow at our local post office
