I have been thinking about a filed pipe for awhile, I have been reticent to take my beloved Preben out in the mud and cold of TN - well, i just made a modest order from Byron Oost and saw that he had Peterson Kapet pipes for around 43 bucks, rusticated and in my opinion kind of ugly and rugged; perfect for dropping in the mud - I would much rather a 43 buck Kapet then a System or Twain floating down the river...and I like Peterson hangers - I will let you know what I think when it gets here. Oh, and I think one of his Savinelli unfinished would be perfect too...not pretty, but all the joys of briar without the worry...

Boswell sells a pipe that he makes for fishing and hunting. It has a strap/string that hangs around your neck and one of the metal wind caps. They were pretty reasonably priced but I have'nt looked at his site in awhile. All of their pipes aren't listed on their site but if you call or email they are really nice and have always been responsive..

I take my Stanwell Vario #243 hiking. It's also my favorite shop pipe because it's a featherweight and clenches easily.
