I recall in a couple of the Basil Rathbone versions, Holmes walking with a pipe in hand to the fireplace and retrieving something. The something was not clearly a slipper, but the inference was that it contained tobacco. As I recall, he never loaded the pipe due to some distraction/breakthrough in the case. I have always assumed that this was the famous Persian slipper.nosenhoj":p8u9od1f said:This Persian slipper that Holmes had nailed to his mantle, Has anyone ever seen it displayed in any of the episodes, or any photos of the object?

Holmes stored his infamous Black Shag in the illustrious Persian slipper, while his dottle was simply left on the mantle to dry for the next morning, if I recall correctly.Lestrade":pmvd3608 said:I may be recalling wrong but I thought the slipper was where Holmes stored his "Dottle"?
