Can't I just go down to Ace and get some PVC? :lol!: No really, why do these people think the world needs another POS plastic pipe? Do any of those pipe colors glow in the dark? :pale:

800 can buy a couple of very nice briar pipes and a heap of baccy.

Or it can buy you a Scandinavian bubble pipe.

$800 will buy at least 80 MM corn cobs

At least the PIPE and the SMOKE have kind of a cool story as to how they came into the world, and can likely re-enter the atmosphere from orbit relatively safely. So, I can be earth-friendly and recycle a plastic pipe hundreds of times for $800, or I can have a briar that will last a lifetime. So I paid for a tree to be uprooted. Stiffy encourages world shipping/cargo which requires fuel, as does the plastic. Not for a pipe that ugly, no sir.

Good luck, Stiffy Swedes.  It kind of does look like a kid's bubble pipe.

And to think...I'm slaving away over my lathe trying to make a nice briar pipe, when what I really need to do is cast a bunch of plastic and charge a ridiculous amount!

I'm SO tempted to rant, but it's just not worth it....

I will say this, at least it has a briar chamber... They could do cob inserts as well for that matter like the old Aristocob

I never did see the price on the site. Probably my ADD kicking in.

Was that in kronors or dollars? Even if it was kronors it is still over priced by $116.00 or so....

Nowhere on the site do they reveal the price.
A guy on another forum (SF, I think) emailed asking about it.

I don't think you'll be losin' any sales to these guys. ;)
In fact, I can barely imagine they sell any.

Oh, one guy will buy one or two...the one that buys the $5,000+ pipes "because he can." *shrug*

I just don't like plastic pipes. Briar or cob are the only ones that really feel right to me.

All he really needs to do is sell one. That would constitute about 800% profit.
The mold is a $75k - $100k investment, easily.

Can't say I see it as money well spent.

I've written a lot of business plans in my day and this one has my head scratching. What was he trying to solve? Who is his market with an $800 price tag? I'm at a loss. I know if the CFO (my wife) allowed me to drop $800 on my pipe habit I would have one hell of a cellar and make some tobacconists day.

According to Vollmer & Nilsson, who helped the with the internals so it would smoke as well as it could, Stiff is aiming at the high fashion market rather than traditional pipe smokers. They launched their product at the Tokyo Fashion Week and got a lot of buzz.

We shall see what happens.
