Kidney stone.

Five days of hell, and still counting.

Anyone who's been there knows. Anyone who hasn't, count yourself lucky.

**** brother, I understand, believe me I understand. Have had over fifty, the last one required surgery after two weeks. I hope yours does not come to that. I am sure you know the drill, but man, I am sorry for your pain.

btw, if you have never tried the diet coke, and lemons, pureed asparagus and water trick it is worth a try.

I've been there brother and completely empathize. Spent a week in the VA hospital the first go round. Every time after I have had percocet and a ureter dialater.

the worst one I had they gave me a shot of demeral and toridal which did nothing, a shot of morphine which did nothing, and then a shot of dilaudid which helped, the second shot of dilaudid put me to sleep

worst pain ever

What trick is that, rev? This is my first bout with a piss rock, so I'm not exactly an expert. I hope it's my last one.

I'm off to the doc now. I spent Monday (Day 1) in the hospital. They ended up giving me something that's 10 times more potent than morphine. That worked, but by that time I was so out of it I don't remember what it was. They gave me a hydrocodone prescription but that stuff is a joke. Doesn't even put a dent in the pain when the little bastidge starts moving.

I thought it would have ended by now. No such luck. I'm going to see my medicine man for some serious pain meds and a referral to a urologist who can see me before December 12 (the earliest appointment I could get with the urologist to whom the hospital referred me).

I'll check in later...er, assuming I'm functional.

Good luck brother hope it comes out easy for ya. Also lemonade and cranberry juice work wonders for kidney stones, I like to combine them.

I don't ever want to know. :pale:

Seriously, I have had some F'd up pain in my life most recently severe sciatic pain due to a crushed nerve root. There was no way out of it except surgery. The pain was on par with electrocution.

But kidney stones have to be another level of pain entirely. :affraid:

Hope it does PASS soon..

Yup, been there done that. In the end that had to go in with laser under general anesthesia. That was decidedly unpleasant. Walked around with a mesh straw in my...well, in me for a two weeks after. That was by far the worst part.

they may just keep you this time. The trick I am talking about is nasty, but it worked for me once, not with the big one though

buy about ten lemons, 2 liter bottle of coke or diet coke, and a couple of handfuls of asparagus. You put the lemon juice in your coke and drink it as fast as you can, it must be within an hour. While doing this you boil the asparagus and when it is very limp, you put it into a blender and turn it into a puree. Drink this after you are done with the coke, it will taste nasty, drink it down fast. Then drink atleast two gallons of water over the next four hours.

this is evil, don't really know if it is proven medically or anything, but I read it on the web and gave it a try. There is no reason why it would hurt you. I am guessing they shot you up with dilaudid. the other advice I can give you is make a fuss, don't let them send you home if you are still in pain, tell them the vicodin doesn't do ****. Brother, I am truly sorry, this is horrific. I a a pretty tough dude, I was a pro fighter, but some of these had me on the floor in the fetal position with tears running out of my eyes. And it wasn't my awesome leaking out, it was me crying like a baby.

Wow, this has not been your year Vito. Hope this episode ends quickly for you.

I believe there's an ultrasound (?) procedure to shatter the stones into small fragments for easier passage, prolly something the specialist will talk about.

they can only do this if the stone has not begun to pass into the ureter. If it is in the ureter them must use a laser, which is much more invasive.

Glad I'm young. Not looking forward to some parts of getting older.

Stones are no respecter of age. My bro-in-law got his in his late teens.

Hope the pain passes soon, Vito.

The nurse told me the pain is equal to labor pains. I lucked out after three hours of wide open IV.

Best of luck
