I've been working on a taste reset the last few days. Lately I just haven't been enjoying my rotation as I used to. I found an old jar of Drum tobacco from the early 90's in a box of books in the storm shelter. Dry as Pharaoh dust, a full bowl lasts about 30 seconds, and the taste resembles, well, Drum tobacco. Took the first light like a champ and required no relights. Halfway through the bowl I detected a spicy note resembling a mix of dust mites and dead skin cells. The room note brings to mind last week's Mac Donald's soda ice with the car ashtray of Lucky Strike cigarette butts dumped in it and spilled in the boot full of dirty clothes. Mild nicotine hit. No moisture in the bowl, no dottle. Burned to a clean white ash.

After a few days of that, I'm now off to test my theory and try a bowl of Firedance Flake.. Hopefully I can taste the difference!

Palate fatigue. Happens all the time. I just switch to cigars for a short while. Or chaw, if it's really bad, and no one's watching.

Of course, I don't suppose one could just abstain for a day or two, could one? :pig:

I think you've captured the essence of a tobacco rather well there Oz!

Watch out Jim. There's a new kid on the block!
