It actually has a metal bowl lining! And there is a crack on the shank, but I figured this would be more a conversation/display piece anyway.MisterE":kfla9i8j said:Very cool Harlock! Is it lined with Meerschaum or anything?? It looks like there is a fissure of some sort along the shank, might not be a good idea to smoke it if thats the case.
On a side not, some of the older Japanese products after WW2 were labeled "Made in Occupied Japan". One of my bo-in-laws has a tea set markes as such. Those ought to be collectable items now.
Me too!MartinH":s6346kfo said:Man, that looks like a one of a kind PAD. I didn't even know that you were allowed to acquire ivory products, even old ones. That's a beauifully carved piece of art.
Congrats.
I got to stop look at all these pipes, because Im a gettin' a hankerin'.
This one was in rough shape, and sold for about $50. I've seen some nicer ones attract bids in the $200-$300 range.ddillas":1r8uvw97 said:New to this forum so bear with... I was recently going through some of my father old stuff... he passed about 8 years ago and I still find suprises in his old stuff... anyway I found this exact same pipe in some of his old stuff, only unused/unsmoked and in pristine condition. All I know for sure is that he was in the US Navy before I was born and did visit Japan in about 1959.... Very interesting... Value anyone?
