Some not so good news. Just got an email from Tamera at Uhle Tobacco Company and she was sorry to inform me that because of Michigan Laws she can't send retail orders to anyone in Michigan so I cannot buy Blend # 300 or as I wanted to sample some Black Stoker also.. So I guess I will have to try to contact a retail sales location in Michigan that handles it.. She suggested Two J's in Grand Rapids Michigan.. I will have to call soon to see if I can order these items.. Drat..

Makes one wonder what the controls for each state are moving too.. Like prohibition times in the old days.. One step at a time.. I think I have a cousin who lives around Uhle's But I shall check Two J's first.. Just had a another bowl of Redcake and it was yummy...

If they don't have it in stock, they may be able to order it under their re-sale lic. and have it " drop-shipped" to you to save a road trip.

I'm afraid we will continue to see more of this, increasing in strength, pretty soon. I visited a local parcel mailing/office services store today. The owner told me that due to new legislation (?) they won't be able to mail parcels containing any tobacco products. The only exception is cigars. Other tobacco products can only be sent through USPS. But I guess that will change too, from the way things are going.

That is interesting given that I just received a big old shipment from pipesandcigars delivered by the Brown Truck. I have another which is to arrive early next week, which has already been shipped. As far as I can tell, UPS is still shipping pipe tobacco just fine. Perhaps the franchisee of your local UPS Store was misinformed on the common carrier restrictions?

Drastic times call for drastic actions. Time to buddy up for a bump shipment between pipe men. Perhaps they can ship "overseas" to say Hawaii and then a brother can reship to Michigan. When there is a will there will always be a way. Brothers gotta take care of brothers. There are 50 states in this union and there are pipe smokers in all of them.

Thanks Stinger...
This is the first message I have had in the BOB for some time.. For some reason all the area's I have subscribed to do not give me updated posts.. I used to get email notifications of like what are you smoking etc.. But nothing anymore.. Settings are correct as far as I know.. Kind of a bummer cause you miss things..

They can be sent by the merchant to customer, but not person to person, afaik.

Same with Uhles and shipping to WA state. They cannot use USPS but can ship UPS.

I knew someone who lived in another state and Uhle's was able to ship to the other state. A person who lived in the other state, could then ship the tobacco to the person who wanted it. I learned that Uhle's does ship to retailers in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

Did they say why they cannot ship to Michigan. Is it some sort of law, or just an inconvenience to them to do so? I recently shipped some tobacco to a friend, the local UPS store told me they could not accept tobacco shipments from individuals. I know the owner and he said to take it, but I'll bet he changed the description.

I live in Michigan and have found that there are some small shops in a few locations around the state that carry Uhle blends, in both the upper and lower peninsulas. Perhaps Uhle won't ship to individuals in Michigan so that they don't hurt the business of these few small shops. Just an idea.
