We normally get two long weekend "vacations" a year, courtesy of my wife's company. Sweet. The premium one is at Carmel Valley Ranch close to Monterrey, CA. - a gorgeous uber posh 5 star resort. The other is at Lake Tahoe. Yeah, yeah. We suffer. Believe me, she earns 'em both.

So we're supposed to fly south this morning...but she's in the back bedroom right now, on the phone with Southwest Airlines, cancelling our reservations. Why? Well, she came down with a slammer cold yesterday morning which has bloomed into something truly frightening and travel right now would be more than foolish...it would be foolhardy. So we have to miss the big Spring-ish trip. The big dinner...the open bar...the bocce ball tourney...the open bar...the annual 'me and my wife intimate dinner'...the open bar...arrggghhhh! Hmmm. Good thing I don't drink.

Ah well. Since this is the one place I have to share my joys, my sorrows and also the trivial vexations that plague me...my brothers, join with me for a moment while I wallow in self pity.

DAMN! :x

Well, I suppose it's better than being run over by a truck. Weird stuff going around this year. My brother, et ux., encountered some microbe that floored them. When I asked them later how they were doing, he said "We're OK. The bathroom will need re-doing." Har! Har! Hope you and she fare better, and when you eventually do reach Carmel, tell Clint Eastwood I said Hi!

Wowsers, sorry to hear that! Hope she gets better soon, today's new bugs are pretty resilient, and rather easily transferred from one host to the next.

Take care of her, wash you hands regularly and keep a good film of snuff in you nose and smoke in your lungs, to help you from getting sick!

Keep fluids running through both of you. (Open bar at home, veggie juices and gator aid)

Wallow away, BH...that's some lousy luck.

I don't know what's going on around the Pacific Northwest, but there's a doozy of a virus making it's rounds here in Ohio (you know the kind - starts as a cold and after a few days it seems like some combination of the bubonic plague and salmonella poisoning). Hopefully your wife kicks what ever she's come down with swiftly.

I hope she feels better soon, and that you can schedule something nice in the trip's place

Real sorry to hear about your wife, hope it's not the flu that's running rampant. I wish her a speedy recovery, heck with a vacation right now. There is always next time, what's important you have each other.

KEEP ON PUFFING!!!

Major Bummer Mr. Horse, but your good lady's health is more important as you know so well.

Ya, there's a bad bug going around here as well and both my new hire and my studio engineer came down with it. Big time sick, and being as I've been in close proximity with both of them it's a wonder I haven't caught it (yet)!

May your spousal unit recover quickly and completely and that it doesn't turn into pneumonia or something!

Cheers,

RR

Of course, I'm always the one who is far more protective of her than she is of herself. My family history is in the medical profession and since I was a Medic: Clinical Specialist in the service and worked as a nurse in SICU afterward for a number of years, I've always been our family's caregiver. So I put my foot down on this trip before SWMBO gave in.

Now she sounds like a TB ward and I may have to drag her into a Saturday clinic for the walking wounded. We'll see. SHE'S the one who will really miss the weekend events - having just won the tiara as Employee of the Year for her 400 person, multi site company. Being there to shmooze with the literati would have been beneficial in any number of ways, including politics. And "queen laid low and missing her coronation due to (perceived) super human efforts on behalf of the company" is a lousy second best. Poor kid.

OK - perhaps the worst thing about my wife's cold? She gave it to me.
:fpalm:

Sorry to hear that! Best wishes on your mend!

BH. I knew that was coming. Hope you start feeling better real soon. No pipe for a while....real bummer!!

KEEP ON PUFFING!!!
