I dont find her ( lake michigan) scary in the least, but I respect her dearly, I wouldn't blame her if she was punishing our area for a local judge to approve Nestle to steal our water for 200 bucks a year.... we as a people have failed her. She has given us so much with tourism and beauty and we as the greedy plague we are have taken and taken from her. But that's a whole different story that if I got going on would land this thread in the rubber room due to my language and name calling alone.

Lake Michigan is about 10 miles North of one of my accounts in NY.  Every once in a while, I'll drive up just to see the lake.  Even on a nice day, it's seems ominous to me.  Last summer, a giant storm below up  and it looked frightening.  That town had a small concrete pier like pictured above and it was engulfed in waves.  They had a lot of flooding that summer and sandbags were everywhere.  I headed South fast!
That's Lake Ontario, Al. Shoreline erosion is a seasonal theme up there. And even on a mild, calm day, who knows what lies beneath the surface, biding its time?
