It was meant as a joke. I think most of us here are comfortable with ourselves and each other... now there are other places on the internet where that poster would definitely be true... :affraid:

I always get bummed out when I go to concerts cuz I'm always ending up surrounded by people that feel like a show is free license to act like a ******* in some way. The last show I was at I got stuck next to 4 drunken morons that screamed a conversation in each others faces for two hours. I'm trying to watch and listen to a band and I'm not sure they even noticed there was a band. Why would all 4 of you come here with zero interest in actually seeing and hearing the band? Oh, because it gives you the opportunity to scream drunken nonsense in my ear for two hours about your classes and some local restaurants. Thank you very much.

Now we're talking Music!

MichaelM - My wife felt the same way at a Blue Oyster Cult concert years ago. When they did their spectacular solo work in 'Last Days of May' she changed here tune and was more than impressed - couldn't believe what they were capable of - but only for that song.

She's a life-long Country Music fan so that concert was painful for here also...

I try to catch at least a dozen concerts a year, but my children are making that difficult for me. That said I have been hitting the late Warren Hellman's Hardly Strictly Bluegrass festival in San Francisco each year. Quota filled in a weekend. :D

I snore from a broken nose from a Rancid show.
Had to laugh at that one. I'm missing a tooth from a Dropkick Murphys show in Detroit, and have tinitus from my "involvement" with a number of ska core bands in the early nineties. I've also got a genuine piece of Beale Street pavement imbeded in my left knee. Can't remember who was playing that night, or much of Memphis at all from July 4th, 2004. We should get together and compare "music" scars like that scene in Jaws. (or Chasing Amy)

In my experiences with concerts, you don't go for the music, you go for the experience.
That's the ticket Buddy, of all the places and gigs for this to happen but I met the best friend I have ever made at a Bad Manners gig in the late 80's, who would ever expect to find such people at such concerts, me that's who, yep you get the knuckle brigade who are incapable of any rational thought but the vast majority of folks at any gig are there for the comradery experience not just the music, if it were about the music we'd all just buy CD's and there'd be no gigs. Social Spirit is an awesome thing to feel and it is something everyone should experience, the raw living energy in the crowd at a Metal Gig is mind blowing, I've been to Ballet, Orchestral concerts and Skin-head gigs and everything in between and I have never felt anything as awesome as the vibe at a Metal Gig.

Is it bad that I like Iron Maiden, Gwar, and the like? (Only a few of us are pipe smokers in this fan base).

I am a huge fan of Metallica (the Black Album and the S&M album with the San Francisco Philharmonic Orchestra are the two best IMHO). Pure Bloody Genius if I say so myself. I like AC/DC, Ozzy, and many others. I am a bit of an ecclectic as well. I like Dave Matthews, Black Eyed Peas, Darude, and even Big Smo. I also can't forget the good Country like Willie Nelson, Cash, Alan Jackson, George Strait, and many others.

Last concert I went to was with my wife... Rod Stewart. Ugh. But, she was super happy with it. That's all that matters. Heck, I even went to an opera with her. My ears were bleeding and I had a migraine when we left, but she was happy. (joking about the bleeding ears, but not the migraine).

PINK FLOYD!!

They are the only group I would go to see again, except for the Eagles, of course.

us old hippies.

Speaking of The Eagles, there's a documentary out about them, I believe I caught it on Netflix. Holy Moly, talk about band drama. Glenn Frey and Don Felder were mortal enemies. Seriously great band biography, though.

Two of my favourite bands right here in this thread; Pink Floyd and (sorry Mike!) Fleetwood Mac.  One of my go to albums of the moment in fact is the Best of Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac.  There's lots of their old work in it with tracks such as Albatross and the wonderful moving and somewhat haunting Man of the World.  Highly recommended.

Beautiful (IMHO)

I honestly thought that they played the same song 8 or 9 times, but my wife assures me they were different "hits."
Good assessment of most popular music.
