Lament of the Fisherman's Wife

By the storm-torn shoreline, a woman is standing
The spray strung like jewels in her hair
And the sea tore the rocks near that desolate landing
As though it had known she stood there

For she has come down to condemn that wild ocean
For the murderous loss of her man
His boat sailed out on Wednesday morning
And it's feared she's gone down with all hands

And white were the wave-caps and wild was their parting
So fierce is the warring of love
But she prayed to the gods, both of men and of sailors
Not to cast their cruel nets o'er her love

For she has come down to condemn that wild ocean
For the murderous loss of her man
His boat sailed out on Wednesday morning
And it's feared she's gone down with all hands

There's a school on the hill where the sons of dead fathers
Are led toward tempests and gales
And their God-given wings are clipped close to their bodies
And their eyes are bound round with ships' sails

For she has come down to condemn that wild ocean
For the murderous loss of her man
His boat sailed out on Wednesday morning
And it's feared she's gone down with all hands

What force leads a man to a life filled with danger
High on seas or a mile underground
It's when need is his master and poverty's no stranger
And there's no other work to be found

And she has come down to condemn that wild ocean
For the murderous loss of her man
His boat sailed out on Wednesday morning
And it's feared she's gone down with all hands

Nothing through my system, at the moment :( . I had to get my receiver repaired (it blew out an amp module). When that happened, it fried the woofer on one of my speakers...so it's in the shop. Should get it back soon.

I have been watching a few youtube videos though...Allman Bros, Primus, ZZ Top, Beatles, CSNY, and one of my favorite old country artists, Carl Smith.

At the moment, iTunes is on shuffle while I am doing homework...currently, it's playing Everclear.

WoW! gospleman, a Primus fan in here! I never woulda thunk it!

They're kinda out there, but there's some great musicianship (to say nothing of some really interesting subject matter!). I think Les Claypool is an amazing bassist.

Many have noted over the years an odd similarity in sound to King Crimson (though definitely not in concepts or subject matter) I agree entirely about Les Claypool, and Tim "Herb" Alexander, is no slouch either!

This piece is called Eleven, because it is written in 11/8 time signature!

Having struggled greatly to 'master' the Irish slip jig which is in 9/8 time, I can't imagine 11/8?!?

Wow, thanks for posting that Kilted! Awesome!

Reminds me of Sam Bush's "Laps in Seven", written in 7/4 time. He got the idea (he says) from listening to his dog lapping up some water out of a dish, and even put some nat-sound of the dog actually drinking at the end of the song!

I've likely posted this link before, however a reminder now and then is good too. Being a Linux user (part time anyway) I stumbled on this site a few years ago. You love music right? It's legal, free and unlimited! Download your favorite music in mp3 as well as other formats (I VASTLY prefer OGG format to mp3/4) and the client works well with your favorite torrent client. There is a built in mp3 player to preview any artist ... and music from around the globe covering any genre you can imagine and plenty you probably didn't know of.

You can sign up for a free account and communicate with the artists (many of whom email me when they have something new coming out). Much more than another download site or weeding through miles of warez, this is an interactive music community of musicians and fans, worldwide!

BTW I'm kilted1 there too so you can look up what I've reviewed and enjoy.

Ready?

OK here it is, and ENJOY! http://www.jamendo.com/
