Kings Mountain, October 7, 1780 British Army Major Patrick Ferguson [was Scottish born in Edinburgh] and his men were surrounded. With his defensive perimeter shrinking, Ferguson tried to lead his men in a breakout. Mounted on his horse cut with his own sword the surrender flags and charged to the Patriots asking from his men to follow him. This made him an A' class target and multiple muskets aim at him. After a barrage of fire 8 musket balls struck him] his body fall back and with his foot still in the stirrup the horse fled down the hill to the Rebels.
Some say that when an American walked toward him asking to surrender, the moribund drew his pistol and fired.
A mountain sharpshooter named Robert Young was the first who shot him, "i will try and see what Sweet Lips can do".

I am smoking Gawith Hoggarth Bright CR Flake while reading and refreshing my memory.

Mississippi River in an 03 Pete with ice water.

Well aged OGS in my humble estate Sav 316 Oscar Lucite after a light b'fast.

Late morn saw some fine 5 yr old SG St. James Flake sacrificed in my 3rd pipe I ever bought - a Sav 1/2 bent "David's Choice" I picked up at a truly Olde Worlde tobacconist in Victoria, BC (Old Morris on Government Street iffen you're interested) back about '97. Can't think why I don't smoke this pipe more often as it's always been a consistent performer. Think I paid like 75 US $ for it.

Mid afternoon with some mundane chores out of the way, I had a very fine aged R&J Short Churchill ISOM on my back porch in the sunny 80F weather. It doesn't get much better than that.

Have some well aged 5100 awaiting me after supper. And I have a very special Stanny 1/2 bent Rhody that is dedicated to it which I got from the Blue Room boyz. It came in pristine condition and might well have been brand new. Made in Denmark as well!

Cheers,

RR

My first bowl of Carter Hall, wasn't impressed.
It’s not my go to drug store blend either but I liked it better than Prince Albert, mixture 79 or some of the captain black blends. When I smoked cigarettes and rolled my own tubes. I would occasionally roll this blend in one. It was better than way.
