Passing the first third of this bowl of Wilke Back Bay w/o perique in a straight black sandblasted 1924 Parker’s Super Briar Bark 11 billiard with a tapered black vulcanite stem. This pipe was made in the second year of Parker production. I'll end the day with this smoke. Been spending time traffic copping the feral so that all of them can eat in peace.

The Squire's Hunting Creek is a great aromatic. I have around 8 ounces left. I'm thinking about adding a little more Latakia to like an ounce to spice it up a bit.

The animals are all fed and watered on this sunny but chilly morning. I'm starting off with something different today, C&D Chocolate Cavendish in an MM Legend 5th Ave. The topping is subtle enough to pair well with a cup of coffee.

Now smoking year 2010 Amphora Original (Brown) in a full bend barley sandblast Peterson 125th Anniversary 1898-2023 No. 172/330 302 brandy military mount with a silver band and a black vulcanite p-lip saddle stem. Have enough left of this old pouch for one more smoke. Ice water and bergs is my drink. I was looking out the kitchen window, and saw Abner the Eager walking in the neighbor's yard. I called to him, and he came to the driveway. I had to go outside to get him because Harry the Hairy was at the deck steps, and Abner is very afraid of him. Abner is eating now, but I noticed that he's favoring his left paw. I remember that he hurt it somehow months back, and was limping rather badly. He's not limping now, but I just saw him hold it up as he's eating. I'll check him out after he finishes his food.

Wow, he's a very pretty black kitty Jim. He looks so clean too. Where do all the cats sleep at night? Do they hang out in your yard or do you have like an outside cat house for them?

After about 6 or 7 years of OTC blends C&D Chocolate Cavendish and Autumn Evening were my first online tobacco purchases. Haha, I remember Autumn Evening used to give me the spins.

I'll give you my review.

The smell from a freshly opened tub or tin is entrancing. The nutty, earthy, woody burley also has a touch of molasses as the lead component. The gold Virginia cavendish provides some grass, tart and tangy citrus and few drops of honey as a secondary player. The brown sugary unsweetened black cavendish is a condiment, and has a tinge of vanilla, too. The smoky, woody, earthy sweet Cyprian Latakia isn’t very detectable being only one percent of the blend, but it’s just enough to add nuance to the flavor. I also observe a little fruity plum as well as a red wine topping. There's also a couple pinches of cinnamon present. The strength and nic-hit are a step past the mild mark, while the taste is almost at the center of mild to medium. I’ve never experienced any bite, though I know a few people have. I puff it a little on the slow side for best effect, and I recommend that pace. Has no harshness or rough edges. Burns cool, clean and even at a reasonable rate with avery consistent flavor from top to bottom. Leaves just a little dampness in the bowl. Requires few relights. Has a pleasant, short lived after taste, and room note. An all day mildly aromatic smoke.

This product has outlived Robinson (who supervised its creation) by many years, and has never been out of production. For those who remember him, it’s a trip down memory lane. For those who don’t know much about what a great actor Robinson was, it’s a chance to acquaint one’s self with a venerable blend and perhaps the man himself to some degree.

9-1-2013 Edit: The 1950s EGR was produced by the Greenfield & Winther company, who originated the blend. It was interesting to discover the taste of the new blend is close to the old, except the newer was slightly sweeter, and the spice note from the cinnamon was just a little more obvious in the older version. The Greenfield & Winther production was a little stronger as well.

Jim, which version to you prefer? The Greenfield & Winther or the Sutliff? Or should I say, which one tastes and smells better?

Well it's been a week or so, since I last posted. As i have been fighting a chest infection. I have however been keeping up with the threads. And feel a lot better.
I have just finished cleaning a rack of Savinelli's, and I'm going to fill the Sav Rock Grain (The one outside the rack) with a hefty 3 pincher of Savinelli Leonardo limited edition, for a nice long smoke before dinner. Has always my friends. I wish you all a great day

Wow what a nice pipe. Feels like a part of your hand and the Plum Pudding tasted amazing in it.
A little bit sad I was off on the age of it, but happy it's in my rotation now. I'll dedicate it to Plum Pudding and enjoy it often.

Wow mate, I hope you feel better. That's a nice rack and tobacco jar. I have a 12 count pipe rack that I keep my Savinelli and Rossi's in.

Slept in, and am smoking pre-2014 Edward G. Robinson's Pipe Blend in a 2014 Basil Meadows smooth slight bend squashed tomato with an aluminum band and a black pearl acrylic stem in the military mount style. M'lady and I fed the ferals, and our cats. Ice water and bergs is my drink.

They hang out in the yard and under the deck. Tomato the Brave always goes somewhere else to snooze when he doesn't spend the night inside. He used to stay outside until Harry the Hairy started being a regular. Abner the Eager doesn't sleep around our house because they other ferals don't want him around. Daisy the Feral Princess always spend the night inside.

Our neighbor built a couple of small houses for them, and they used to sleep in them, but not in the past year. I think they feel too vulnerable inside them. Abner the Eager used to snooze in one, but Tomato the Brave went in there to attack him, and Abner's never been in one since.

Jim, which version to you prefer? The Greenfield & Winther or the Sutliff? Or should I say, which one tastes and smells better?

The Sutliff version. It's smoother. Can't tell you about the room note because I can never smell it. M'lady describes it for me.

While she takes a nap, I'm on the patio enjoying the delightful weather, Straus Sleepy Hollow in a Jansen's N.O. bent volcano with saddle stem, a can of Coke Zero, and I'm starting Ben Hur, which I've never read, but the film with Charlton Heston is one of my absolute favorites.

Had EGR in my black clay Belge. I'm still looking for a fine churchwarden length cleaner for clay pipes. I don't like the idea of using compressed air from the bit end. A length of wire will clear the airway but it really doesn't clean, and firing them would be a headache.
