Hard for me to say RM, it is strong but not pungent, I like that. Only myself to worry about. I would call it "very English gentleman's club": it tastes like old private libraries, I have a romantic view of strong English tobaccos. Another favourite of mine is Star of the East. I dunno if this has been any help or simply clouded the issue. ;)
Thank you for the reply. I'm thinking you are describing the room note as an old English library with leather chairs with men in suits enjoying their tea while reading news papers. I get it.

Starting off my smoking day with a bowl of pre-2014 Edward G. Robinson's Pipe Blend in a 2014 Basil Meadows smooth slight bend squashed tomato with an aluminum band and a black pearl acrylic stem in the military mount style. M'lady took care of all the cats before I woke up, but they'll be ready for more later. Ice water and bergs is my drink.

After a breakfast of duck eggs and homemade kielbasa with coffee it’s time.
Heading to the laundromat ☹️ and a couple of errands. I’ll be happy to have washer and dryer again when the house is finished. Heck running water and a real bathroom is going to be 5 star hotel for the rest of my life.
I’m going to smoke a bowl of Crooner in my little pocket pipe and try to knock out these chores.

OT: follow up to my toothache post. Went to a 24-hour dental clinic the day after Thanksgiving; he said the root was "irritated or inflamed" and said I was probably looking at a root canal. They could do it immediately he said, and quoted me a price that was easily double what I would pay with my regular dentist. I said I needed to think about it; they gave me a script for pain meds and sent me on my way. Maybe a big mistake as I spent the weekend in intense pain and the meds didn't even touch it. I was able to get in to my regular dentist yesterday; he took one look and said "the tooth is split completely in half!" He couldn't believe the other guy didn't see it; scoffed at a root canal and said the only way to fix it was to get that tooth out of there. Said the pain was so bad because the tooth was cracked through the root and it would have taken some heavy-duty drugs to even touch it. So it's out, the pain subsided in a few hours, and I'm on antibiotics and still taking some pain meds. Not the best Thanksgiving weekend I've ever had.

A third of the way through this bowl of Watch City English Ernie-ental in a straight dark brown and tan rusticated Peterson 2023 Saint Patrick’s Day 264 Canadian with an Irish flag colored ferrule and tapered black acrylic stem. Cleaned a few pipes, and fed Sleepy Suzy, who's extra hungry today. Have two new Ringo photos, too.

So, I’ve discovered a new use for my ESV Study Bible! 😁

It’s cold again in the Bluegrass. But Jacksie needed a walk, and I wanted to sample some Black Friday goodies that started arriving yesterday. First up is Granger in a Jansen’s N.O. bent volcano with saddle stem. I remember my grandpap smoking Granger exclusively back in the ‘60s. I enjoyed it, but can’t say I love it, at least not yet. I may experiment using it as a blender.

Enjoyed a tasty lunch, and am near the last third of this bowl of year 2020 Watch City Rouxgaroux in a smooth medium bend 2021 Peterson POTY Natural 4AB No. 6/500 military mount with a silver cap and a tapered black vulcanite AB stem. Lavazza Classico, neat, is my drink.

Did a second set of walking reps on this cold, windy day, and am not far from finishing this bowl of year 2015 D&R A.B. Rimboche in an undated slight bend, smooth flame grain Wessex Standard egg with a brown accent on the black vulcanite saddle stem. Ice water and bergs is my drink. A certain loudly motoring Tomato the Brave is showering me with extra attention today. Everybody else is strategically snoozin'.

Had some more Va Slices cubed in my Clarin Cutty while I watched TV after lunch. What a great pipe for light tobaccos! I use it almost exclusively for Virginias, VaBurs, VaPers, VaTurs. I have not tried Crooner in it yet but being clay it shouldn't ghost with deer tongue.

It's pretty nice, only bad one bowl so far, so will have to do more testing
I just got my order from them which had Simply VOriental and American Cut Plug. I haven’t had a chance to smoke them, but the pouch smell of each is really good. In fact, I've never had a better pouch smell than American Cut Plug-a mostly pure tobacco smell.

@Singed did you paint the end of this pipe and wrap with what kind of thread? Does this cool it down enough? I've used bees wax on my only clay, and it is still too hot. Thanks

@Swede I painted the last two inches of the stem with enamel - three coats baked at 175F for two hours and a day rest in between - and then French whipped the stem from about an inch past the bowl back to the mouthpiece. The wrap is cotton macrame cord. I don't know how long it will last but it stands up to heat well enough. The stem rarely gets uncomfortably warm when I'm smoking but the heel will burn your fingers if you're not careful. I use the wrap as a guide for my grip and I don't stray from it. I used the same treatment on my OGC Antique Belge, too. If I changed anything it would be to use foodsafe ceramic glaze as a precaution but the enamel I used was Humbrol model enamel for kit hobbyists.

There is a drawback, I cannot ember-clean the pipe without ruining my handiwork. - the wrap would burn and I do not know what would happen to the paint.
