I'm always surprised to read about this 1920s pipe. It looks too good! Obviously been well cared for.

I don't think I've ever heard anyone rave about an instant coffee. I may have to try it now.

We've been using Folger's Black Silk for a long time now. My wife and I both think it's perfect.

Once worked on an IT project with a guy 25 years ago who had a side-business supplying coffee to businesses for their employees. He told me that when you go into these coffee trading houses, they have tons and tons of #100 sacks of coffee piled everywhere, graded on some sort of quality spectrum. All the buyers are buying from the same piles of beans; there's no Folger's pile, Starbucks pile, etc. He said don't pay attention to the brand, price, marketing, nothing. Just go by taste and buy what tastes good. And sometimes the grocery store brands accidentally get good quality beans and roasting, and there'll be a multi-month jag of excellent coffee in a generic can. I caught a wave once where Walmart's Colombian variety was super high quality for over a year, and then it pooped out. I should have bought cases of the stuff!

The guy who gifted to me never smoked it. He said he gave it a good clean when he got it, but he didn't think it needed one because he got almost nothing out of it. When I got it, it looked brand new. I couldn't pull any grit out of the stem or shank. The bowl was perfectly clean, barely having any carbon. There was no scent of tobacco in the bowl, shank or stem. The photo you see was taken by me the day I got it. If it was ever smoked, it couldn't have been more than once or twice.

@lgoldberg Folger's Black Silk is very good coffee. Your comments about coffee companies is not surprising to me, and I can believe that's the way it is.

Not far from finishing this bowl of year 2012 Rolando’s Own in a smooth straight early ‘60s Lane era “William Conrad” Charatan Executive Extra Large stretch apple with diagonal channel cuts on the lower right and left of the bowl along with a black vulcanite double comfort saddle stem. Going to clean a few pipes as we listen to a lecture about colonial America.

Sorry, but some forum glitch is preventing me from posting the Charatan. You guys know what it looks like, though.

Had better luck this time.

I once was in a situation to know that some bags of green coffee beans being prepared for sale were 10 years old. Think of that! I used to mainly drink 8 O'clock Colombian, but have moved to Seattle's Best Post Alley.

Relaxing after a giant Thanksgiving dinner that can't be beat. I ate so much that I hesitate to admit how much I had, so I'll say that I had plenty of m'lady's pecan pie with a small bowl of French vanilla ice cream for dessert. It'll take me days to diet it all off, but it was worth it folks. :) I'm half way through this bowl of year 2020 Pfeifen Huber Virginia Golden Flake in a 1938 smooth straight brown patent Dunhill R 115 bowling ball apple with a tapered cumberland stem. Community Coffee, neat, is my drink.

I get "server error" when I try to post a photo. Sorry, folks.

While we ate, we listened to this:

Floger's BS is my go to grind, too. If I can't get it I use Folger's Intensely Dark.

Had EGR in my Tomato meer after dinner while I watched The Flash...what a disappointment. The film, not the pipe. I've always been a DC fan and this schlocky attempt at fitting into the whole smarmy Marvel money-mill of Guardians of the Galaxy and Dead Pool is simply embarrassing. They should bury it.

Good evening BoB,
I enjoyed a Thanksgiving dinner fit for heroes with my family. After dinner, many of us then went outside to sit around a fire and some of us smoked. I enjoyed a bowl of Watch City Spiked Spumoni which I found disappointing however I need to give it more chances. I followed it immideatly with a bowl of Arango Balkan Supreme which I think is wonderful. My cousin in-law's wife borrowed my Viking 117 and had in it a bowl of Butternut Burley which she liked very much.
I sincerely hope each of you had as good of a Thanksgiving as I did and if not, I might have to invite you over next year.

Just finished smoking year 2014 FVF in a smooth 2002 medium bend eight sided panel top straight grain Rinaldo Collection Silver Line F Egea 05 Titania bulldog with a black acrylic stem.

Well, I can post pics again!

@Singed , I've had enough of bad super hero movies and TV the last few years, so I save money, irritation, and important time not watching them. They hardly resemble the characters I knew and in a few instances, drew, so why bother.

Emptied the dishwasher, filled it up again to run through the rest of the dirty dishes, and fed the ferals. My last smoke of the day is Uhle’s Blend 71 in a smooth straight brown family era Sasieni Mayfair 64 N Canadian with a black tapered vulcanite stem. Reading while this bowl lasts.

@JimInks Hear, hear! I watch more documentary productions and old serials, not from the classic era you enjoy, but still old. M*A*S*H, for example.

I'm having my morning pipe, Haunted Bookshop in my Re-Gent, and coffee. Gonna run out to the course later this morning to shoot the **** with the superintendent and the assistant. Have a good day guys, don't look at the scale. 🫣

Second pipe, Oriental Silk in my Brigham bent Dublin. The meerschaum plug was a great solution for this pipe, smokes clean as a whistle now. Second coffee, Black Silk regular. Ordered a fitness program online to rehab my shoulder and my back for next work season, increasing my range of motion and joint stability. Good for 12 weeks and only $35 bucks Canadian. I've done the program before and it is very effective. I was a fool not to order it last winter.

I'm thinking of throwing our scale in the dumpster to prevent my wife from using it! Or is there a scale out there you can program to display things like "YOU LOOK FANTASTIC" or something like that?

Still fighting the bronchitis, but at least now I have the meds for it, and the cough is productive. I'd love to go outside and have a pipe, but it's very cold; we just had mid 70's the other day, now it's 23°F and we have 1-2" snow coming tomorrow. I started felling better yesterday and did a little project in the shed, intending to light up when I was done, but my activity set me back and all I wanted to do was go inside and stay there.

So even if I don't over exert myself today, and feel like a pipe later, I'll still be out there breathing frigid air. So to console myself, I bought a new pipe
Had a $15 off ebay coupon, too, so I couldn't say no!
