I was reading about pipes the other day and saw something about Falcons, so was inspired to fish out my Dr. Grabow bent Viking and its tallest briar bowl. Having almost the end of my 2023 C&D Steamworks with Cracker Barrel coffee and cream. It is sunny and 40's F here. I hope everyone that celebrated it had a great Thanksgiving. We had ours early, so it was steaks for us yesterday.

I'm smoking year 2020 Watch City Rouxgaroux in a smooth medium bend 2021 Peterson POTY Natural 4AB No. 6/500 military mount with a silver cap and a tapered black vulcanite AB stem. Coffee from a freshly opened bag of Lavazza Classico, neat, is my drink. Watching Carefree starring Astaire and Rogers.

Now smoking year 2016 Peter Heinrichs Special Curly in a straight smooth brown 1950s The Saint James London Pipe (Comoy’s second) 185M billiard with a tapered black vulcanite stem. Haven' smoked this blend or pipe lately. Same goes for my last smoke. All the ferals have been fed.

@lgoldberg I had a Nording 25 years ago that I still regret losing. It was a low-midrange pipe and a conventional style, similar to an author and with a brass accent ring, but it was a quick favourite and I searched for it for weeks off and on. I cannot speak to the freehands that are now popular. That's my two bits - they're worth less now than my 2 cents were when I lost the pipe. I would replace it but they no longer focus on those styles of pipe.

What do you think of the Nording pipes? I've had my eye on those before.

Mine is a great smoker, better than a number of more expensive pipes in my collection. For me, I really enjoy seeing the raw finish develop a patina over time. I’m a clencher and the pipe is well balanced and hangs well without having to hold it. I can smoke and type/work/putter around hands free of the pipe. Lastly, I am a sucker for freehands and although there is plenty of available inventory for these each one has a unique look and feel. A fair priced, good smoking and fun pipe IMHO.

A quarter of a bowl left of year 2022 unreleased Sutliff Brown Virginia Flake in a straight smooth brown post-WWII Comoy’s Grand Slam billiard 127 Canadian patent 341422 with a black vulcanite saddle stem. Haven't smoked this pipe lately either.

@lgoldberg I find that the cheaper Nording pipes do not smoke as well as the mid-to-high range by any means. Those in that upper range are good smokers at worst, and generally better than that.

There are, as is the case with many companies, really good lower grade Nordings here and there. This unbranded Nording pot smokes almost well as my more expensive ones, but the other three cheaper ones that I have do not.
