Thank you. I don't understand why it and several other French pipes I was given weren't sold as firsts. They smoke well, most of them have no issues of any kind.What a beautiful pipe.
Here's another example of one from the same factory. It's unsmoked because I've been too picky in deciding what blend to dedicate it to. It's a straight grain on all sides.

Passing the half way mark of this bowl of year 2020 D&R Raccoon’s Delight in my very reliable smooth straight post-1938 pre-Republic Peterson Sterling Canadian 263 with a sterling silver band and a tapered black vulcanite p-lip stem. Couldn't sleep. Sleepy Suzy's happy about it because she wanted wet food.
