Old Bewlay Special (apparent meaning : nice grain & no fills) with an LL lucite optomised-airway re-stem.
Bewlays was, at one time, a large & successful chain of tobacconists in England, like Puff-&-Brouse & the Tinderbox were here. Like them, they bought the pipes they sold from various manufacturers and stamped them.
It's one of the five or so pipes here that have taken turns being MVP, for years. And a poster child example of the fact that, once an older pipe is properly cured and smoked-in, the name on it bears no relation to its performance quality.
Past a certain age (above) and use horizon, older Dunhills, Barlings, Comoys &c. are a lot more valuable than similarly old Parkers, Bewlays or Hardcastles, but they perform on a par with each other.
You can't taste the names on the shanks. 8)
