Having some Penzance in a group 3 Cumberland Liverpool

I've been going through a bit of a Latakia binge the past few weeks and Penzance has been very kind to me. I'm still experimenting with how it likes to be smoked and packed but overall I'm finding this to be a Latakia blend that is done very well and is perfect for someone who primarily smokes VA and VApers.

Some 1914 PA in a Teipen bent apple. First smoke in this pipe. Nice easy draw and weightless. I'm looking forward to breaking this pipe in.

As for the PA, it's better than today's version and it's dry enough for Kyle. :lol!:

...this morning, a bowl of Warrior Plug in my Charatan straight billiard-Lane era...

Quite serious. I only have a small bit of it, but it is fun to smoke something almost a century old.

Blackwoods Flake in a nice grp4 sized Orlick Royal Soveriegn bent bulldog. mmmmmm :p

HOTW in my SMS Meer...

...wait, 98 year old Prince Albert? Wow.

Dry tobacco often doesn't have much flavor... besides nostalgia, how'd it do?

I was surprised. It retained a pleasant aroma that reminded me of my Opa's pipes. Since it was dry, lighting was a cinch, packing unnecessary and undesireable. In the first half of the bowl, the flavor was a muted nuttiness and generally pleasant, the second half tasted like cigarettes smell. Overall, I find the thing that recommends this over today's version is the lack of pg and the experience of having tried it.

I have another bowl worth, so I'll get another shot at this one. I also have some old Kentucky Club, Lane Royal Canadian, and some Douwe Egberts House Blend each about 45 years old. Those too should be interesting and nostalgic.

I'll likely try the wee bit of Scandal I have first before I visit 1914 again.

...this evening, a bowl of Sillem's Councilor Flake in my 2000 P&T POY Castello rusticated panel billiard....
