It's 10:30 CST with 4 inches of snow and clear sunshine outside so time for some more ketchup/sweet, my third bowl of FM 2000 today in a Freehand Relief tanshell finished Charatan Dublin

Half way through this bowl of Edgeworth Slices in an old medium bend grain etched Preben Holm Ben Wade Prominence B freehand. A cup of coffee brewed to the proper temperature is my drink on this cold and rainy day.

What does Ketchup mean in the pipe smoking context? I've seen it somewhere else too.

(I did check the acronym/terminology thread.)

It's 12:52 CST and having some after lunch Balakan,a big bowl of Durbar in my Hercules rusticated st. bulldog I got two years ago.

Doblone D’Oro in a 1988 smooth full bend Peterson System Standard XL 315. I've enough for one more smoke.

Listing this a few minutes early: HU Scotney in a straight Lane era Charatan black with burgundy undertone sandblasted billiard 420. This will finish the tin.

It's 14:53 CST and having an afternoon bowl of ketchup/sweet, some more FM 2000 in my "new" BY Dunnie, a 1946 Shell Apple my daughter gave me for my B'day this year !! This is the kind of pipe Dunhill made it's name with !!

For the drive home on the chilly rainy evening, Field & Stream match in a Grabow freehand

Sutliff #15 Base Cavendish in a 2013 medium bend Spillproof corndog cob.

Old Dark Fired in a smooth briar calabash shape 1984 Fero Danese made in Italy. Love this stuff!

It's pretty much a reference to McClelland. Many have noted a tin aroma that reminds them of ketchup or perhaps more specifically to the vinegar used in ketchup production. Kind of an on-going inside joke.

Some posters here use it as kind of a tongue-in-cheek reference, while not actually experiencing it just to perpetuate the myth.

Cheers,
