I've seen so many tobacco blends with "Navy" in the name. What does "Navy cut" actually means please?

Here is a link to what the Wiki says about it.  I am not sure I agree that all Navy Cut is a burley.

No, I certainly don't either
Dunhill Deluxe NAVY Rolls certainly hasn't any Burley in it, other wise I wouldn't be able to smoke it.
I use to think it meant it was a Vaper but, after research I found it had nothing to do with it all the time. Maybe "Navy" means a process?  :?:

I always thought it was derived from the process of storing tobacco in rum barrels for transport on ships across the Atlantic. Hence, "navy" implying a rum or rum-like topping?
Then again, it most likely bears the same type of meaning as "natural" on many products you see on the market today, which could either mean it's natural or did at one time include an ingredient that was once found in nature. Tobacco producers need marketing too, perhaps more so, considering.

I was always under the impression that it was rum topped in some fashion.

Don't say that! I haven't had a drink in over 20 years. This is going to ruin my sobriety! :fpalm:
