Are they rare?

I happen to have found one at a flea market. I know it's a nice pipe, I don't actually know what it's worth.
I'm pretty sure it's made in 1994.

I got it for a song.

That's the guide I followed to come up with the 94 date. I wish every pipe maker would have something to ID the year, it's a really cool thing about Dunhills.

Having come to pipe smoking late in the game, and looking around buying and smoking a few pipes, I have come to realize that I like certain things in a pipe, and have searched out a pipe what I would like to have. It seems that having come late, the Erik Nording Hunter '99 Quail, and the Nording Woodcock will never find their ways into my collection. So, what boat did everyone else miss, maybe some connections can be made and some of these monsters might surface for us through this discussion.

I stumbled across your post while doing some research on my Nording 1999 Quail pipe. I received it from my step father as he has quite smoking, and he never used it. It is still brand new and never smoked. I know it has been 9 years since you posted this, but if you are still searching for a unsmoked 99 Quail, I have one.

There is a 1999 Nording smooth Quail for sale in the Danish Estates section at Smoking Pipes. Would recommend keeping an eye to their estates sections as there are a lot of excellent pipes that are posted twice a week.
