I don't want to get *too* excited but...

...I'm already talking to Todd H. about getting an artistic morta poker made for me. He is indeed a great guy and seemed thrilled to have some creative freedom with me. 8) Okay, I'm getting excited. It'll not only be my first poker, but a morta poker? That's gonna be... just...

I don't know if he's aware of BoB, but I told him to please come on by, he'd fit right in over here. 8)
Idk if he is committed, but I know he is on CPS (as am I).

I love this guy's work too.

This one's awesome:

Morta pipes give me an odd, "Dark Ages" kind of feel. Not the look of the designs this guy makes or anything- they're very conservative for the most part. Maybe it's the name or something... "Dead". Seems like a Morta pipe would be perfect for Halloween.
Wow!!!

Hey Everyone,

I just joined yesterday based on Kyle's recommendation.

This looks like a great site with lots of nice people. I'm glad to have found it.

I am flattered by the comments I have seen about my work. Thank you.

Morta is a great material to use for pipes. It is very light weight and I have found it to smoke very dry.
It is also really cool to create something out of wood that is 6-8,000 years old and starting the process of fossilization. 8)

Hi Todd
Welcome to the board. I think you will like it here as, in general, we are a bunch of nice pipe smokers who enjoy talking pipes and tobacco with like minds. I hope to squirrel away enough money to have you make me a morta pipe. I agree about the cool factor. That is my main motivation for wanting one of these pipes. AS a history teacher, I think that is just awesome! on the practical side, I'm glad to hear it smokes well, too. I'm always on a quest to find neat briar alternatives.

Thanks for joining

Jay

I'm big on Mr. Harris' mortas as not only are they appealing but they are also affordable. This doesn't mean that the $635.00 Paulo Becker morta on the Quality Pipes site is any less desirable, it's just not. . . . .affordable!

As a follow-up to those who might miss it otherwise, Todd's breathtaking work for me...

 Dammit, now you b'tards have got me interested in morta. That's all I need, my PAD to metastacize (or however it's spelled).

Another maker that has done quite a few Morta pipes is Chris Askwith:

I've been talking with him for awhile now about a commission. Shoot him an email if you're interested, he's great at getting back to you in a timely fashion.

IE8, FF8.0, both no-go. Probably a Flash issue. Could be ISP.

Too lazy to care. It is what it is. Meh.
