I have used my warranty a couple times on torch lighters, and it is amazing how lightening quick Xikar sends out a replacement lighter. I think they rarely ever repair them, instead preferring to just send a new replacement lighter. It is hard for any other brand to compete with a warranty such as theirs.

Zippo is the prime example of this practice. They are still the one all the others try to emulate

I'm looking at the Xikar PipeLine. It is in the Old Boy style but only around $50 instead of the $125 for the Corona Old Boy.

I grow tired of having to top off the Zippo everytime I try to use it and tilting the Bic is getting old, too. I have used a torch a couple of times, but I know that is just a scorch mark waiting to happen.

The IM Corona is just too much a jump at this time.

I purchased my Xikar at a B&M. I've had to return it about 5 times now. But every time they just pull a new one from there self and give it to me. It sucks have to have returned so many, but it's nice knowing It will always be replaced.

well I am liking this lighter a lot, havent had any trouble with it, I do have a twin torch Xikar that I use for lighting cigars that has been back about 4 times, and they send me a brand new one every time, but I can say if you use really good fuel like Xikar makes the torch lighters will last a lot longer, the cheap fuel clogs the jets

No, I am a cigar / pipe smoker only and even those arent quite as frequent as I would like. When I fire up a stogie, I use the butane torch and it works like a champ. For the pipe, I tried using the Zippo and when it is full I like it - but if it sits for 2 - 3 days the fuel evaporates.

I like the convenience of a butane lighter and the Xikar seems like a decent compromise between an IM Corona and a Bic

Understood. I use my Zippo between 1 and 4 times a day. It may be evaporation that's getting me on day 3 or 4 as well :lol:

I got a Xikar Pipeline for Christmas 2011 and I had to return it three times. After a short while they just stopped lighting reliably, even though the spark was strong. Xikar replaced them all very quickly, but it got old real fast having to keep sending them in. The last time I asked for a Resource in exchange for the defective Pipeline. So far the Resource has worked flawlessly. I have two nits to pick with the Resource, however: I don't like the fact that the tools can't be removed from the lighter body for use, and you need to have a small screwdriver on hand in order to adjust the flame. The Pipeline was great in that regard because you could use the end of the removable tamper to adjust the flame.

I don't have the Pipe Line (Xikar) but did purchase a similar product from Vertigo the Vertigo Briar (shown above)

Mine works great and for only $25 I feel like it was a great buy as a Old Boy copy.

I have an Xikar like the one pictured and have had to return it once. I was ready to return it a 2nd time but switched fuel (starting using Xikar's brand) and that seemed to remedy the problem. Given my experience with this lighter and the large number of returns noted in this post, I think it is safe to say that this lighter is sub par - and I'm being polite. I purchased a Colibri Connaught II after the Xikar and I think it's a much better lighter. 3 big positives for me: It has a decent size thumbwheel to adjust the flame - eliminating the need to have a small screwdriver handy. It has a fuel window. The flame is more reliable. In a nutshell: I wish I'd purchased the Connaught instead of the Xikar. Yeah the Xikar warranty is good but who wants to have to keep returning the darn thing!

I have the same Xikar Resource lighter and have always used triple refined butane with no problems at all. The only fault i have with this lighter is the flame height needs constant adjustment and needs a Brebbia tamper or similar screwdriver tool to adjust. Kind of defeats the purpose of an all in one tool.

So far so god with the Xibar Lighter, but I rotate lighters like I do the pipes, so it hasn't really had time to break down on me. I have a few of the IMCO'S that are suppose to be great, I have had nothing but problems with those. Bummer really.

I have 4 of them I am meaning to send in for repair/replacement. I am going to ask them to trade the 4 for 2 of their somewhat more costly open flame ones for pipes.

I have a Zippo Blu (gas) and it has been back and came back in as sad a shape as it went it. IMO, it is a total piece of crap.

I am using a Calibbi (open flame) at the moment.

I'd have been money and time ahead in all this buying a case of kitchen matches.

My pipeline has been working flawlessly for years. I use Xikar fuel. Cheaper lighters I use to use cheaper fluid and had more problems. Fuel or lighter, i dont know. I have several Xikar lighters in fact, for different situations, and never had a problem with any but one of them. A single flame exec 2 cigar lighter. Constant pain in my ass. Two people I know have had issues returning their Old Boy when it malfunctioned. So yeah they may work better, but returning them might be harder than a Xikar product.
