You snooze you lose

Or should I say, I snooze I lose.

For the last couple of days I've been debating about an order. I love Capstan blue and was just about to buy a few tins but just wasn't sure about the other tin or 2 I would buy along with them. Well damn if the price didn't go up over night. Suddenly the price of Capstan went from 12 something a tin to 16 something a tin. That's a big jump. I think that makes it the most expensive tobacco out there (though I noticed 3 Nuns went up that much too).

I wonder what caused the price jump.

Wow. That is a bit stiff. It was the same every place I checked, so I assume the distributor or maker provided the impetus, perhaps suffering from delusions of grandeur or is just grasping at what they perceive as their main chance. Capstan is hot now, if I read things correctly. Germain/Esoterica should have done this years ago. Just my opinion, as a connoisseur of what the herd calls greed.

I had a few things in my cart on a site for a couple of days. Went to order last night, and saw the prices went up 20%, except for what was in my cart.

Needless to say, I left the contents alone and ordered while the prices were fixed...

Next time though, it will cost more.......

Sometimes the road we travel has a few potholes. In this case I'm afraid there are more up the road. Tobacco will never be cheaper than it is right now. I've been building up my stash for the last 2 years in an effort to avoid price hikes and new taxes which are sure to come.

I noticed it applies to all MacBaren products. At 4noggins they have all increased by almost 30%.

I'll be very interested to see what they say. Looks like it was an edict from the manufacturer for their own reasons. But why would it apply to quantity purchases? That to me goes against the impetus for getting in multiple amounts. Now, there is no motivation. Where's the logic????

It seems to me our currency is continually losing value, and our government has over-committed itself in terms of obligations, so both are likely true.
