We're having a rainy day which is expected to go above 60° F and get very windy late this afternoon. The chores are done and I'm starting my usual GLP Westminster in a bent MM Apple Diplomat along with a cup of coffee.

OT follow up #2: having survived the toothache debacle I now get to go in tomorrow for surgery to remove a kidney stone. Regular doc noted a reduction in kidney function and sent me to a nephrologist who sent me to a urologist who discovered the stone. They go up through your you-know-what and break it up with ultrasound and then put in a stent which has to be removed later. Sounds exceedingly unpleasant and I'm not looking forward to it. Gettin' old ain't for sissies, that's for sure!

Sutliff's Kahlua Amaretto in my mm cob. This tobaccos tastes just fine but the aftertaste is teriffic. Doesn't last long though. Now I sit before the lazer cutter posting to you all while sipping nice green tea and listening to my favorite maritime history YouTuber speak about very early iron hulled ships from the late 16th and early 17th centuries.

Be thankful they found it and you'll be rid of it. Friend passed one driving and totalled the car. Almost died. He told me the pain was worse than getting shot. Didn't even feel the tree he hit.

When I was a little kid I played with my Tonka trucks and machines in my (thanks dad) giant sandbox.
Then the neighborhood kids would grab all their toy soldiers and we would spend hours playing in there.
As an adult I was a keyboard and tech warrior. I played soldier for real and had K9 adventures.
As a old kid I have a JD 200LC excavator, JD 3155 tractor a big Chevy farm truck with flames on it and a dump truck. I have a 44 acre sandbox (thanks again dad) and the neighborhood kids are K9 handlers I'm helping train them and we spend hours at night playing in there.
Life is going full circle and as the end comes near I'm getting close to the beginning again.
And no one will beat me for smoking at 66 like they did at 6. Actually I had to smoke a cigar made from shade leaf and inhale. Pretty sure the beating was less painful.
Going out in the sunshine to play with my toys in the sandbox. I wish you all a wonderful day.

Nearing the half way mark of this bowl of pre-2014 Edward G. Robinson's Pipe Blend in a 2014 Basil Meadows smooth slight bend squashed tomato with an aluminum band and a black pearl acrylic stem in the military mount style. Ice water and bergs is my drink. It's still raining, but Abner the Eager braved that rain to be with us.

Enjoyed a tasty lunch, and have passed the first third of this bowl of year 2020 Watch City Rouxgaroux in a smooth medium bend 2021 Peterson POTY Natural 4AB No. 6/500 military mount with a silver cap and a tapered black vulcanite AB stem. Gold Star 50th, neat, is my drink. Getting ready to clean a few pipes.

Now smoking and reviewing KBV Pork Chops and Apple Sauce 2024 in a medium bend smooth paneled 2017 Celebi Turkish Meerschaum with a tapered gold and black swirl acrylic stem. Ismail made this meer for me as a token of friendship. Ice water and bergs is my drink. Sleepy Suzy is by my side supervising my review.
From what I've heard, that's better than the pain that happens when your body tries to pass the stone. Best wishes for the surgery!
It's cold out, but I'm enjoying a bowl of Wilke Royal Admiral in an '80s Peterson 312.
It remains cold, the blessing of it is a lack of wind. The forecast was for 30-40 kph winds today but somehow that missed us. I'm having more OJK in my little Loernzetti, I had some last night and it put me on my knees. The problem is that I like the taste of it. Looks as though my sister will be purchasing a 2018 RAV4. The deal idependent on an inspection from her mechanic but it does look like a promising vehicle. My Toyota is over 20 years old, '03 Toyota Matrix XRS, and in very good condition. Toyota has a good reputation in Canada. The car will be a definite investment for her restart. She should get it next week, so I'm taxi for a few days yet.
Earlier today I wanted Watch City Cigar Simply VOriental in a briar, and it being cold outside, I chose this BG Pipes sitter bought in the 1980's. Well, it did a great job with the blend, so gets the honors again now. Funny how pipes will surprise you by doing well with a blend you wouldn’t have matched with it. This grain made me think how understandable it is to love a briar pipe. Even though I don't treat this one so well, it still looks good to me-old reliable too. This blend seems like a good rival to GLP Temple Bar, and I may some perique to test that. The comment about it being cold is about not wanting to subject a better pipe to maybe the thermal stress of the pipe being lit and smoked in less than 40 F, then it sit in the cold in my vehicle after being hot then emptied. Does anyone have opinions on this?

@Swede I had the misfortune to destroy a pipe by starting it when it was very cold w/o allowing it to warm up first. The bowl literally split. I don't know the impact of allowing a pipe to sit and cool quickly, I do not think it would be as catastrophic. I would stow it in a chest or vest pocket if you have real misgivings. I definitely recommend that a pipe that has cooled outdoors be warmed to room temperature before it is used again, especially below freezing temperatures.

I've passed the half way mark of this bowl of 1990s Edgeworth Ready Rubbed in a medium bend dark brown 2017 Don Warren 17 smooth straight grain rough top Dublin with a multi-brown cumberland stem and ferrule in the military mount style. Enjoyed a couple of great phone chats with friends.

Earlier I loaded a bent MM Missouri Pride with GLP Westminster to take on errands. After we got home we had a couple of friends stop by and did chores. I finally finished that pipe and loaded an MM Morgan with C&D Virginia Flake and made a fresh cup of coffee. This is becoming my favorite straight Virginia.
