Thank you. I don't understand why it and several other French pipes I was given weren't sold as firsts. They smoke well, most of them have no issues of any kind.

Here's another example of one from the same factory. It's unsmoked because I've been too picky in deciding what blend to dedicate it to. It's a straight grain on all sides.

Passing the half way mark of this bowl of year 2020 D&R Raccoon’s Delight in my very reliable smooth straight post-1938 pre-Republic Peterson Sterling Canadian 263 with a sterling silver band and a tapered black vulcanite p-lip stem. Couldn't sleep. Sleepy Suzy's happy about it because she wanted wet food.

Never got back to sleep, so I fed all the cats except for the absent Abner the Eager. I'm half way through this bowl of year 2024 Edward G. Robinson's Pipe Blend in a 2014 Basil Meadows smooth slight bend squashed tomato with an aluminum band and a black pearl acrylic stem in the military mount style. Ice waer and bergs is my drink. Watching an episode of Ellery Queen with the ever purring Sleepy Suzy by my side.

Gold Star Jamaican Estate Reserve, neat, is my drink. Daisy the Feral Princess is snoozin' on her blanket. Tomato the Brave is snoozin' on m'lady's chair. Harry the Hairy is sunning himself by the edge of the back deck. Haven't seen Abner the Eager in two days, but I'm sure he's okay.

C&D Maestro Pucinni in a Savinelli Estella 315EX. Looks like SmokingPipes finally sold out of this, and upon closer inspection, so did the rest of the online stores! People finally caught on that this is one of the best Kentucky blends out there right now. A shame that it is a limited release, but I am thankful I still have 12 tins!

Earlier today, I had a bowl of Warped Cloudhopper 2024 in a B.G. Pipes briar sitter, so that being so good, I'm having another round in the same. A neighboring dog (pit bull?) got a little threatening towards our dog visitor, so I have a nice heavy seasoned 2 foot osage orange club out just in case. I had this happen over a year ago and backed it off with a big metal level.

@Swede "Walk softly and carry a big stick." Sounds like my neighbourhood except people are the threat. I personally prefer a stout axe handle - light, easy to swing, good grip, and with a signifigant edge to concentrate impact force but also with enough spring to give without breaking easily.

Had a bowl of Sutliff's Ready Rubbed match in my big Lorenzetti this afternoon, this is a tobacco I will certainly miss. I really have to stop posting messages in the "Sutliff tobaccos I once knew" vein. :rolleyes:

I bet that axe handle is hickory-many are and a good choice. The osage is a very dense wood, so a heavy club that might make you think there was lead in it.
