    Favorite Lakeland Aromatic Tobacco

Are of of the Synjeco ropes/twists scented? I seem to remember one of them was and REALLY liking it, but can't put my finger on which one it was. Or maybe it wasn't Synjeco at all.

    Dry Snuff versus Moist Snuff?

Aaaaaaahhhh...Makla's kind of an odd bird. It's certainly for oral use and not a nasal snuff - it's more similar to Swedish snus in that you're meant to use it in your upper lip, but a little like American dip in that it does create a need to spit (nowhere near as much as dip, though). It's...

    G.L Pease Picks...

I think Abingdon has the most latakia, I think. Blackpoint has a lower proportion, but I think the flavor/aroma of the lat comes out a bit more. If you want to look beyond GLP for a major lat bomb, track down some Hermit Tobacco Captain Earle's 10 Russians.

    Dry Snuff versus Moist Snuff?

Yeah, it's kind of tricky. The thing his, in the nasal snuff world, there dry and moist snuffs (relatively speaking), but anything marketed as "moist snuff" is almost certainly for oral use. If there's any doubt left, do you have a brand name of what you were sent?

    Favorite Lakeland Aromatic Tobacco

It's delightful as a snuff, though. I'm a regular Ennerdale smoker...for my money, the best Lakeland out there.

Shag vs Ribbon? (Related to Haddo's Delight)

I always have to pay more attention to shag to keep it from burning too hot, too fast. I've had a few shags that weren't too bad, but just little too much puffing and the flavor turns acrid. I usually just avoid them and stick with, well, anything else, really.

    Home buying update

I'm about three weeks behind you in the process - glad you're in and getting situated...right now that feels like a pipe dream!!!

    It had to happen eventually

Update: So, it's been a busy month-and-a-half (or more) getting everything in place, but we're finally coming down the home stretch. We're scheduled to close next Tuesday, and should have the keys to the new place by Friday/Saturday. Then comes the fun part - actually moving. We're using...

    Great quotes you like

"Get busy living, or get busy dying," Andy DuFresne The Shawshank Redemption "We don't see things the way they are; we see them they way WE are," Talmud "The price of anything is the amount of life you trade for it," Henry David Thoreau "Men occasionally stumble over the truth, but most of...

Your VaPer and Perique blend Recommendations

Yep...it's in there. But just a little bit. It gives it some extra depth and that (very slight) leathery note - doesn't come across as Latakia at all.

    Chicken massacre

I might be really wrong, but I think a bobcat is a subspecies of lynx, no? If so, I'd bet that's your culprit if it's the same critter the other fella caught on camera (as far as I know, no other subspecies of lynx gets anywhere near that far south). Of course it could be something else...

    Home buying update

Congrats to you! I'm a lot earlier in the same process, so I can honestly say I'm VERY envious that you've got the finish line in sight! And yeah - definitely post some photos when the time comes.

    It had to happen eventually

Square footage, nicer house, better scenery. To be fair to the missus, we live in a house that my brother and I inherited from our mother (we bought his half from him as we were just married and looking for a home and he was just entering that "early 20s, I want to live in an apartment with...

    It had to happen eventually

Sage advice. We've been married 10 years now and seem to be in unison most of the time in the process - still, there have definitely been occasions where we have to remind each other that we are, in fact, playing on the same team. I've always been told it's one of the most stressful...

How long can you age tobacco?

I once found a tin of tobacco in my old luggage that I forgot to take out after a vacation with the missus a few years prior. Does that count?

How long can you age tobacco?

I've had VA aged 40 years (thanks to a VERY generous guy who shared with a bunch of us at a pipe show) and it was amazing. Yes, the more time aging has to do its thing, the less Virginia/Vaper/Latakia blends will taste like they're original version...so there is that. But they don't become...

Your VaPer and Perique blend Recommendations

Hampsters, some previous conversations make it seem like we probably have some similar tastes in VaPers. Based on that, I second Old Nate's suggestions of Fillmore and Telegraph Hill (Fillmore has a tiny bit of latakia, but it doesn't taste "latakia-y", if that makes sense), and the St. James...

    A sad day in Blighty

I read a few articles that put the those numbers a fair bit higher (keep in mind that Pew data is from '10). The point the articles were making was essentially that the reported Muslim population in Poland appears smaller than it actually is because of the way they (the Pols) don't report all...
