    How was your weather today?

I’m fortunate to live north of the ice storms, at least most of them. We get snow when you get the ice. Occasionally that turns out to be a bad thing. A couple of years ago we got two nights of crazy wet snow late in April. Many trees were leafed out and were nearly destroyed by the...

    What Are You Smoking Pages.

GL Pease Sparkplug in a Savinelli 320 KS Roma. Post COVID getting some taste back and the snork is just spicy. Right now I would describe this as a very subtle blend; Ha!

    DST ends with mixed feelings

I've never been one to complain about DST or the change back to CST. It does take several days/weeks to fully adjust, but it all works out. It is always a bit of a shock on the evening side, going home in the darkness after work.

Welcome Scott, from the High Plains of Kansas. My mother's ancestral home is in central Tennessee, around Cookville. Enjoy your time here!

    Cigarbid

A year and a half or so ago, I bought a bunch of tins from Cigarbid, including several 8oz tins of SPC Plum Pudding on their falling auction or whatever they call it. Those were some good deals. And there is the game to be played with the shipping date, so as to minimize the shipping cost. I...

    Rouxgaroux

Ernie said one hour. I guess more will be available in April. Apparently this is a labor intensive blend because of hand cutting the ribbon cut perique into a mixable size and the hand mixing with the Virginia’s.

    Tobaccos to Trade or Sell

That is quite the list! I’ll do some pondering with my cellar and shoot you a PM.

    Hearing Loss

I have hearing loss in both ears from too many years working around loud equipment and machinery with inadequate hearing protection, plus some hereditary issues I suspect. I am on my second set of hearing aids, the digital, programmable variety. I don’t have tinnitus. These aids do a decent...

    What Are You Smoking Pages.

Smoking WC Rouxgaroux in a twin bore rusticated Radice bent Apple. I’m not tasting much but the Perique is very spicy on my tongue. With this post COVID taste/smell thing, I feel like I’m back at square one with discerning how a blend tastes. The difference is, I know how these blends should taste.

    Spam

From a commercial site pushing an anti-spam product comes this: Here are two popular theories: A Digital Equipment Corporation employee was the first spam sender The first deliberate marketing spam occurred on Usenet Though both these cases contributed to the modern use of the word spam, we...

    Spam

From Wikipedia: The term spam is derived from the 1970 "Spam" sketch of the BBC television comedy series Monty Python's Flying Circus. The sketch, set in a cafe, has a waitress reading out a menu where every item but one includes Spam canned luncheon meat. So, there it is.

    What Are You Smoking Pages.

My third post COVID smoke. Hal O’ the Wynd in an Arley Curtz bent Brandy w/partial bamboo shank. The good news is that some taste and smell is returning! Not a lot mind you, but certainly some. I believe that bodes well for the future! Edit to add that I have a wee dram of Laphroiag 10 on the...

    Hi from Australia

Welcome. That cost for tobacco is just crazy.

    What Are You Smoking Pages.

My second post COVID pipe this afternoon. John Bull Royal English in a Bones Bent Dublin. Nothing, absolutely nothing in the way of taste/smell. Nothing on the snork. More recovery time is called for. Disappointing? Yes. But I remain optimistic.

    How Much Is Too Much?

That is a quandary. Will you be able to drive or ride to a smoking area? If you are giving up the pipes, is there a local pipe club that would accept donations? Any smoking buddies? From what I've been able to gather, tobacco that is not in tins has limited value on the market. Unless you...

    How Much Is Too Much?

@Mikem, You said "In a sense I guess I should be considered a hoarder." Nope, nope , nope! Perhaps you are a collector? Perhaps an accumulator? Perhaps a passionate hobbyist? Most likely, a guy who enjoys a good pipe and finds new shapes/finishes interesting. If you aren't spending the...

    Hi from Australia

Welcome from the middle of the US. Sorry about the tobacco laws. I hope we are not headed in the same direction, but it seems we are. Good to have you here.

    GLP Spark Plug

I don't find it sour tasting. I class it a very heavy English or a good Balkan, take your pick.

    GLP Spark Plug

I break it into small chunks, then rub it out between my palms, pack my pipe and smoke it. Seems to work just fine.
