Searched and couldn't find anything here on these.

I have a separate room to smoke in but use one anyway. It really works, keeps the odor from migrating to the rest of the house. And cuts down on the residue sticking to everything in the room.

But (there's always a but), those Hepa filters are expensive. $64 each in a kit with 4 prefilters. It's supposed to last a year but with smoke it's more like 3 months.

Maybe I'll go back to my garage.

These can be a bit expensive, I have one and love it as it works like a dream.

Ionizing air purifier
I'd like to get one for the room where my pipes hang but, I've always wondered about these.
Does anyone know where does the smoke and smell go if there no filters? Is it just destroyed? But, seeing you can't destroy matter and only turn it into something else, what does it turn it into?

I've got a Winix 5500. It works great but the Hepa turns yellow after a while and the exhaust air stinks. Put in a new one and it's great again.

Doesn't seem to be anywhere to buy them in bulk. So for that reason I'm not sure I can give it a recommendation.

My Biggest problem is smell, not smoke. I don't smoke in the house but having over 300 pipes in one room you'd think they were smoking themselves by the smell.
Done everything I guy could do, wipe the bowls out and run plenty of cleaners through'em and still a stench like a dirty ashtray.
I love my pipes and love even more smoking them but, I gotta get rid of that smell.

Cart, I leave my pipes in the garage for a couple days post smoking them to let their smell dissipate. I only have 70 or so pipes and the smaller amount may affect the overall smell in a less way for me. In my room where I keep all my pipes and tobacco, all you smell is the unsmoked tobacco.

On a side note, maybe a small space with an ionizing air cleaner could work, sort of like walker briar works Ozone chamber?

There all in approximately a 15 ft. x 20 ft. bedroom so a small unit should work.
I haven't a garage but, even then the humidity here wouldn't let them dry out if not in a climate controlled environment .Looks like I'm gona have to take some of my pipe money and purchase an ionizer.

I found mine at a garage sale for 25 bucks, so they are out there at a reasonable price!

I had an old "Sharper Image Ionic Breeze" in my bedroom and it kept the pipe odors in check. That was until just a few months ago, the "Ionic Breeze" took a dump. Now the room is starting to get the smell of all of the pipes that I have in the roll top desk and the various storage boxes that they are kept in. Now that it is getting warmer, the odor is now more noticeable........

PS: I have close to 300 +/- pipes in the room!!! :affraid:

I think I may have solved my problem, last night a perform an experiment.
My house being an older one it doesn't have central air but, has room A/C in the bedroom where the pipes are kept and the living room. Before going to bed I switch the air to "Fresh" (this brings fresh air in but doesn't exchange the air)and this morning the stench wasn't quite as bad. Later I switched it to "VENT" ( this exchanges the air in the room with outside air) and the stench was gone. I think from now on before going to bed I'll just switch it to "Vent" and hopefully that'll solve the problem. I would just leave it on "Vent" but, as you know it takes more energy to cool warmer outside incoming air then it does to cool the already semi cool recycled air. And being my bedroom door is closed at night the stench has time to build up. Too bad I can't leave it open but, the old women likes to turn lights on in the middle of the night waking me up.
Long story, aint going there.

Just when you think you have a problem solved it comes to bite you in the rear. Venting does decrease it naturally but, as the temp rises here the stench becomes more noticeable.
I've decided to get a Ozone machine as I stated on another thread and am well convinced that it will do the job without harm.

You want to be a little cautious with machines that generate ozone. I'd run it with the door closed and not be in the room.
I had a bad experience with one years ago, was dizzy for 12 hours.

"Ground-level ozone is harmful to the respiratory system, especially your lungs. according to the Environmental Protection Agency, ozone has been known to reduce lung function, exacerbate asthma and make your lungs more vulnerable to infection."

But there are different types of machines and many people like the ones they have, so YMMV.

The PuriFan looks slick.

Yes! The manufactures of the machine I'm getting specifically state NOT to be in the room and to close it off while running it.  ;)
