Ah, that is Wingenroths. I'm a frequent visitor to Mel's shop (he always has some great pipes for swapping) and a wonderful tobacco selection.

I used to own 3 Boswells but am back down to one after I had to sell the others to cover some of my wife's medical bills. All 3 smoked great and it was a sad day when I had to send the other 2 down the road. The one I have left is used mostly for burley blends and it smokes all of them well. My draw hole is rather small and will only pass a normal pipe cleaner. Since it is a bent pipe, it usually takes a little twisting to get it through. The bit on my Boswell is very comfortable, one of the best in my collection. This is important to me, since I am a clencher.

I'm also a big fan of Boswell tobaccos, particularly their aromatics. No Bite Delite, PA Dutch Treat, Raspberries and Cream, and Chocolate Cream are about as good as aros get. I also like their English tobaccos, like Magnum Blend, Northwoods, and Mild English. They are also some of the nicest people in the industry to get along with. I heartily recommend their pipes and tobaccos to any pipe smoker.

I work at a B&M in Maryland, only 3 hours from Boswells, and we received word today that not only will they no longer sell our store pipes to sell, but they will also no longer sell us any of their tobaccos to sell in the store!!! Bear Blend, Christmas Cookie, and Northwoods have always been very popular bulk blends at our shop so this will definitely hurt our business as the patrons that normally buy these blends from us will simply buy direct from Boswells. Crazy stuff!

JM told me he a few months ago he was going to stop selling pipes thru other shops as he couldn't control their pricing. He is an ingigma at times. He could sell twice the pipes weekly that he posts on his sale board, but only lists a fraction of the pipes he has available. I assumed he wants to keep a reasonable inventory on his shop board.
Him and Dan act like they can barely keep up with making pipes and selling tobacco via the web, perhaps selling to other stores is simply too much for them to handle. They seem to sell everything they make via the shop website, so I guess why bother going outside their walls.

Yeah, I keep tabs on their new pipes as I'd still like to own one one day, but I saw that and genuinely thought they had tried to style a pipe to look like a cross-section of elephant dung or something. I'm sure to somebody, its beautiful, but... no, not a style for me either.

I guess I like elephant dung then. I like the quirky more unusual pipes, the run of the mill shapes you can get any time but the odd designs are just beautiful to me.

I don't quite get those Jumbo pieces either. 328 grams - yikes! A local minister only collects these Jumbo pipes, he has five I think.

I picked up a Boswell estate for cheap that was hardly smoked a few months back. It's not the prettiest pipe I have for sure, but it's turned out to be a real good smoker. I'm also a fan of the wide open draw.
