Due to my great respect for Brewdude, I'm withholding my opinion of the oxymoronic "meatless chili". A man of Rande's obvious refinement should be permitted a few eccentricities.

Meatless chili, hummmm, that's what the Mexicans call the tomato /chili pepper gravy that goes on many of their dishes, NOT what we make down here in Tejas :twisted: :twisted:
 
The best chili is the chili you like. It's like arguing what's the best curry? Indonesian, Indian, Chinese, et. al. There's a thousand different ways to make chili, probably more.
