I think the natural freehands are more readily available now. I purchased mine no problem. Good luck. You can probably pick one up at your local drug store or Brick and Mortar. Try one of the cheaper models and then buy a nicer one.

Our local Walgreens carry MM products, so that might save you the wait for the direct ship from Washington, MO (if you have Walgreens). Usually, they are located behind the counter with all the other tobacco goods. In regards to the cobs, accept no substitutes for the MM brand. Also, if the cobs work out for you, you might invest in a foreverstem from Walker's Briarworks; that's a really nice modification to a cob. One more thought, it's likely you will have a filtered variant. Be sure to try it both with and without the filter--I prefer mine without.

Thanks for the tips Lesath. Yep - have a Walgreens within a mile of the house!
More than likely, your Walgreens will carry the Legend model, which is a good starter cob. Each Legend can have its own look, since MM uses a variety of bowls for that model. If you haven't yet, you might want to read over my Corncob & New Smoker Primer for more information.

I have read it John - and absolutely found it so very useful.

I really look forward to the MM corn cob pipe experience - armed with your great primer and the support of the brothers here!

Thank you for the help!

I have 7 MM cobs, 3 Legends, Missouri Pride, Diplomat, Country Gentleman and Great Dane Egg. All of them are excellent smokers with the CG my favourite by a very small margin.

I also have 20 briars, 3 Falcons, 1 MacQueens Wizard, and a small Kiko meer. But I smoke the cobs much more than any of the others. I never use filters and I've never had any dottle/ash in my mouth.

MM cobs are the Dunhills and Castellos for me.

Thanks for this - I have been looking at the CG and think that might be my first purchase today. Well, I'll get whatever my local Walgreens has (thanks guys for the tip about Walgreens) because I'm too excited to wait for a MM shipment!

You're welcome. We're here to answer any questions you have once you start smoking your cob.

I have around 35 pipesd, and the cob is still my favourite smoke.

Purchased a basic MM cob for $4 from Edwards today, needless to say I too am now a convert. That thing was smooth and easy to smoke. Definately better than a coulbe I've paid $30 or so for...

More MM's in my future for sure!!

I started with a cob, ive purchased some briar pipes since then but im still breaking them in. I always burned my corncob pretty hot but i always enjoyed it.. hence.. im still at it.

With a cob being my first pipe I'll always come back regardless of what other pipes I acquire.
